Oklahoma State’s offense found another gear in the fourth quarter Monday night, and Puerto Rico Fuerza had no answer.
The Cowboys put up 41 points in the final 10 minutes on the way to a 120-92 exhibition win at Guillermo Angulo Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The result moved Oklahoma State to 2-0 on its foreign tour, with the second victory over PRF coming in just over 24 hours.
The first three quarters looked a lot like Sunday’s 94-88 OSU win: the Cowboys were in control, but the gap never fully broke open. That changed fast once the fourth quarter arrived. Oklahoma State entered the period up 79-71 and then buried PRF with a 41-21 run, shooting 17 of 25 from the field and 5 of 9 from 3-point range.
Freshman guard Parker Robinson led the way with 18 points, and 10 of them came during that fourth-quarter burst. After being held scoreless in his debut, fellow freshman Latrell Allmond bounced back in a big way with 17 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Cowboys also got double-figure scoring from sophomores Ryan Crotty, Mekhi Ragland and Jacob Walker. Crotty finished with 12 points and hit 4 of 7 from deep, while Ragland added 12 and Walker scored 11.
Oklahoma State shot 55.4% from the floor and made 16 of 18 free throws. The rebounding edge was just as striking: the Cowboys finished with a 51-25 advantage, grabbed 19 offensive boards, and outscored PRF 28-4 in second-chance points. All 14 players scored, and the reserves accounted for 91 of OSU’s 120 points.
The box score had some odd wrinkles, too. PRF had a 34-19 foul advantage and took 37 free throws to Oklahoma State’s 18, though the home team missed 10 of those attempts.
The Cowboys set the tone late in the first quarter by scoring the final six points to take a 24-20 lead, then kept the lead from there. Crotty knocked down two 3-pointers early in the second quarter, and Allmond delivered a hard-driving dunk during a 14-3 run that pushed the margin to 44-26 with 5:29 left in the half.
PRF answered before halftime, holding Oklahoma State to one field goal the rest of the period and closing on a 15-6 run to trim the deficit to 50-41.
The hosts made things interesting again in the third quarter, cutting it to 67-63 with four minutes left. Allmond responded with a 3-pointer, then chased down a loose ball and finished in transition to help steady the Cowboys.
From there, the fourth quarter turned into a showcase. Oklahoma State scored on all but three possessions in the period, opening with a 17-4 run. Andrija Grbovic scored seven points in that stretch with a 3-pointer and two tip-ins, and Anthony Felesi finished it off with an acrobatic tip dunk that made it 96-75 with 6:24 remaining.
The Cowboys reached 100 points with 5:16 left and kept pouring it on, building the lead to as many as 30 in the final minute. Oklahoma State averaged 1.41 points per possession and 1.30 points per shot in the win.
