The fifth week of the 2026-27 NFL regular season brought another strong showing from several former Oklahoma State standouts, with Jaylen Warren headlining the group in a big way.
Warren delivered the best performance of any Cowboys alum this past weekend, piling up 188 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns as the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Indianapolis Colts 34-22. He finished with 15 carries for 101 yards and added six catches on six targets for 87 yards.
Two plays stood out immediately: an 80-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter and a 50-yard touchdown run in the third. That made him the first player since Herschel Walker in 1986 to post an 80-yard receiving touchdown and a 50-yard rushing touchdown in the same game.
It was also Warren’s third straight game with at least 125 all-purpose yards, and he remains the only player in the league leading his team in both rushing and receiving yards.
Justice Hill also made his touches count in Baltimore’s 30-23 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons. He carried four times for 73 yards, highlighted by a 47-yard run in the third quarter that set up an 18-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Huntley. Hill also added two receptions for 5 yards.
Ollie Gordon II kept rolling as Miami’s lead back, even though the Dolphins came up short in a 31-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Gordon ran 18 times for 88 yards and a touchdown, finding the end zone for the second straight week while helping Miami produce 217 rushing yards. The Dolphins are off in Week 6.
Detroit’s 45-21 rout of the Arizona Cardinals included three former Cowboys on the roster: linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, defensive lineman Tyler Lacy and wide receiver Tay Martin. The win moved the Lions to 3-2 as they head into their Week 6 bye.
Elsewhere, Tylan Wallace and Teven Jenkins were out for Cleveland’s 17-12 loss to the New York Jets. Wallace was sidelined with a knee injury, while Jenkins missed the game because of a back injury.
San Francisco linebacker Nick Martin was not available for the 49ers’ 32-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He has been on injured reserve since the start of the season because of a hamstring injury.
Chuba Hubbard and the Carolina Panthers were idle in Week 5. Carolina will return to action Sunday, Oct. 18, at Philadelphia.

Oklahoma States Surprising Run Faces Its Biggest Test Yet
Oklahoma States sudden turnaround has given the Cowboys real momentum heading into the kind of game that can tell you whether a hot start is a blip or something sturdier. After dropping its opener, Oklahoma State has strung together four straight wins, including an upset over Oregon, and now heads into a matchup with No. 20 Houston in a game that carries plenty more weight than a typical September test.
Houston has matched the Cowboys with three straight victories, and the Cougars bring one of the leagues more dangerous passing-game weapons to the table in tight end Patrick Overmyer, who leads the team in receptions and yards. For Oklahoma State, this is the next step in proving the surprise run is real, because a road win over a ranked opponent would say a lot more about the Cowboys than any early-season surge ever could. Oklahoma State Is Waiting On One Defensive Decision That Could Reshape Saturday
Oklahoma State is still sorting through one of the quieter but more important injury situations on its defense after safety Mose Phillips III went down against UCF with a shoulder injury. Phillips left the game and did not return, and head coach Eric Morris said the staff is still in wait-and-see mode as it monitors his progress heading into Saturday.
If Phillips is unable to play, the Cowboys would likely turn to Evan Jackson at boundary safety, a spot where he already has some familiarity with the scheme. That makes the next update important not just for depth, but for how Oklahoma State lines up and handles a key piece of the secondary in a week when stability matters. [Read more 🡒]
