The Oklahoma Sooners’ 2027 recruiting class is still loaded, but 247Sports has trimmed it down a spot in its latest team rankings.
OU now sits fourth nationally behind Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Miami, even after stacking together 26 pledges under general manager Jim Nagy and head coach Brent Venables. The class is split evenly on both sides of the ball, with 13 commitments on offense and 13 on defense. There are no special teams commitments in the group.
The newest addition only helped the numbers. On Friday, Oklahoma landed defensive back Bode Sparrow out of Utah, a target the Sooners had focused on heavily. Sparrow brings versatility and is expected to fit as a safety in Venables’ defense.
There’s still room for the class to grow, too. Oklahoma has several other prospects it remains high on, and with the 2027 cycle still months from the Early Signing Period, the Sooners could keep climbing if the momentum continues. This is the first full recruiting cycle for Nagy and Venables together, and the early returns have been strong.

Oklahoma May Be On The Verge Of A Massive QB Recruiting Win
Trey Tagliaferris recruiting arc has already taken another sharp turn, and it could wind up being a significant one for Oklahoma. The 2028 four-star quarterback decommitted from Notre Dame just six days after giving the Irish his pledge, reopening a race for one of the classs more closely watched passers.
Oklahoma has been in the mix for a while, having offered Tagliaferri on May 4 and brought him in for an unofficial visit before his Notre Dame commitment. With offers from a long list of national powers and a profile that has him ranked near the top of the quarterback group, the next step in his process is drawing plenty of attention, especially with the Sooners positioned as a program to watch. Oklahoma Just Missed On A Blue-Chip Utah Edge Target
Oklahoma spent part of its 2027 recruiting push trying to make a real run at Uhila Wolfgramm, the consensus four-star edge rusher from Spanish Fork, Utah, and the Sooners did enough to get him on campus for an official visit. The interest was legitimate, even if Oklahoma entered the race later than most schools after offering him on March 31, and Wolfgramms stop in Norman only added to a nationwide list of programs that had spent months chasing one of the Wests more coveted front-seven prospects.
Wolfgramm eventually ended up elsewhere, leaving Oklahoma to keep sorting through a class that still sits at 26 commitments and remains among the best in the country. The Sooners already have two other Utah players in the fold for 2027, so adding a third would have made for a useful pipeline into a state they clearly continue to prioritize, but this recruitment never quite reached the finish line for them.
