Oklahoma Targets Rising 6-Foot-5 Receiver After Recent Breakout

Rising 2027 wideout Charles Davis is taking a thoughtful approach to his recruitment, with Oklahoma already making a strong early impression.

Oklahoma is making early moves on one of the West Coast’s rising stars in the 2027 recruiting class.

Charles Davis, a wide receiver out of Westlake Village (Calif.), has been gaining traction on the national radar-and the Sooners are officially in the mix. OU extended an offer to Davis late last month, joining a growing list of high-profile programs keeping tabs on the dynamic pass-catcher.

For Davis, the recent surge in attention has been both fast-paced and energizing. But he’s staying grounded in the moment, navigating the early stages of his recruitment with a maturity that stands out for a player still years away from signing day.

“My recruitment has picked up a lot,” Davis said. “It’s been a blessing, honestly.

Just staying thankful and focused. I’ve got a few more visits planned in the spring, and I’m just taking everything one step at a time.”

That measured approach is serving him well, especially as the list of interested programs continues to grow. Davis is hearing consistently from multiple schools and is using this early window to get a feel for who’s serious-and who’s building something he might want to be part of.

“I’ve been hearing from a few different programs consistently, and I’m building strong relationships with several coaching staffs,” he said. “I’m keeping my options open and taking everything step by step.”

Davis isn’t just chasing logos-he’s looking for a fit. His focus is on finding a school that checks the right boxes: development, trust, and long-term growth both on and off the field.

“I’m looking for a place that feels like home, where the coaches believe in me and will help me develop on and off the field,” he said. “Player development, relationships, education, and a strong culture are all really important to me.”

Oklahoma’s offer came toward the end of January, following what Davis described as a meaningful conversation with the Sooners’ coaching staff. The staff took time to connect with him on a deeper level, talking through more than just football-something that clearly resonated with the young wideout.

It’s still early in Davis’ journey, but the Sooners have made their interest known. And with spring visits on the horizon, this recruitment is just getting started.
