Oklahoma's "retribution" tour is hitting all the right notes as Porter Moser's squad remains firmly in the NCAA Tournament bubble conversation.
The Sooners delivered a commanding 83-63 victory over Texas A&M in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday night, marking their sixth straight win. This streak includes four victories over teams that previously dealt them losses during a challenging nine-game skid earlier this season. After wrapping up the regular season with wins over Missouri and Texas, Oklahoma dispatched South Carolina in Wednesday's opener in Nashville, setting the stage for Thursday's showdown with Texas A&M.
The Aggies had bested the Sooners twice this season, with a seven-point win in College Station on Jan. 10 and a close four-point victory in Norman on Feb. 21. However, the third meeting was a different story, as Oklahoma dominated from start to finish.
The Sooners led almost the entire game-holding the advantage for nearly 38 of the 40 minutes-thanks to a blistering 21-3 run that spanned over eight minutes in the first half. By the end of this surge, Oklahoma had built a 24-point lead and was well on its way to the SEC Tournament quarterfinals.
Texas A&M came out strong after halftime, trimming the lead to 12 with a perfect 5-of-5 shooting start, including three 3-pointers. But Oklahoma weathered the storm, answering with a 10-2 run to push the lead back to 20 midway through the second half.
Four Sooners hit double figures, led by Nijel Pack's impressive 20-point performance. Xzayvier Brown contributed 16 points and six rebounds, Derrion Reid notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards, and Tae Davis added 14 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
Next up on Oklahoma's revenge tour is a quarterfinal clash with Arkansas on Friday at 8:30 p.m. on SEC Network. A win could secure their spot in the Big Dance.
"These guys are thinking about the chase," Moser shared on SEC Network after the win. "They're really, really hungry and chasing right now."
Here are the key takeaways from the Sooners' impressive second-round performance.
