Oklahoma Sooners Land Another Star as Recruiting Streak Continues

Oklahoma Sooners' recruiting momentum surges as they land in-state standout Greydon Howell, further solidifying their top-ranked 2027 class.

The Oklahoma Sooners are blazing a trail on the recruiting front, and their momentum doesn't seem to be slowing. On Sunday, they secured a commitment from four-star athlete Greydon Howell, marking their fifth recruit in just two days.

Hailing from Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Howell chose the Sooners over offers from the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Miami Hurricanes, Stanford Cardinal, and Arkansas Razorbacks. His decision came after attending the Sooners' Future Freaks recruiting event over the weekend.

Howell is a standout at Broken Bow High School, excelling in football, basketball, baseball, and track. While he's expected to play wide receiver for the Sooners, his versatility is undeniable.

As a quarterback, he completed 62.2% of his passes for 2,817 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions last season. On the ground, he added 1,514 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns.

In addition to his football prowess, Howell is the 4A state champion in the 400 meters and holds the title of Broken Bow's all-time leading scorer in basketball. He's the third in-state recruit to join Brent Venables' roster, alongside five-star offensive tackle Cooper Hackett and four-star offensive tackle Kaeden Penny.

In the Rivals industry ranking, Howell boasts an 86.00 grade, ranking him as the No. 425 overall player and the No. 13 athlete in the nation. Interestingly, some recruiting sites rate him even higher, with a 90.00 grade, making him the No. 10 athlete and a solid four-star prospect.

With Howell on board, Oklahoma's 2027 recruiting class now includes 19 commitments, 12 of whom are considered blue-chip prospects. This impressive group is currently ranked as the top class in the nation, featuring five top 100 prospects.
