Porter Moser had a message for his team last week, and it wasn’t about celebrating a single win - it was about building momentum. Oklahoma had just snapped a nine-game skid with a road win over a ranked Vanderbilt squad, but Moser made it clear: this wasn’t the finish line. It was the ignition point.
And the Sooners responded.
Oklahoma followed up that breakthrough with a convincing 94-78 win over Georgia on Saturday at the Lloyd Noble Center, marking their first back-to-back wins in SEC play this season. It wasn’t smooth sailing from the jump - Georgia came out scorching hot, shooting a blistering 70.8% from the field in the first half and taking a lead into the break. But the Sooners flipped the script after halftime, unleashing an 18-0 run that completely changed the game’s trajectory.
That second-half surge wasn’t just about scoring in bunches - it was about energy, defense, and a team that suddenly looked like it believed again. Oklahoma turned stops into transition opportunities, and their offensive rhythm fed off that defensive intensity. The Sooners didn’t just beat Georgia - they overwhelmed them in the final 20 minutes.
With the win, Oklahoma moved to 13-12 overall and 3-9 in SEC play. It’s not a record that jumps off the page, but in a deep SEC, stringing together quality wins matters - and voters in the latest 247Sports SEC basketball poll took notice.
Oklahoma climbed three spots to No. 12 in the updated rankings, making them one of the week’s biggest movers. Just two weeks ago, the Sooners were sitting in the basement of the poll.
Now, they’re trending upward alongside Texas, who also jumped three spots to land at No. 7.
At the top of the poll, Florida continues to set the pace, locking down all 14 first-place votes. Arkansas holds steady at No. 2, while Vanderbilt bumps up to No. 3 after a strong stretch.
Kentucky and Tennessee are tied for fourth, followed by Alabama at No. 6.
Behind Texas at No. 7, Texas A&M slides to eighth, with Auburn and Missouri rounding out the top 10.
Georgia, after losses to both Oklahoma and Florida, drops two spots to No. 11.

This poll, now in its second season since the SEC’s expansion to 16 teams with the additions of Oklahoma and Texas, reflects input from reporters across the 247Sports network. With each team jockeying for position in the SEC Tournament and hoping to punch a ticket to the 2026 NCAA Tournament, every week counts - and Oklahoma, at long last, is back in the mix.
The question now: can the Sooners keep their foot on the gas?
