As the Oklahoma Sooners gear up for the 2026 season, sophomore offensive lineman Michael Fasusi is brimming with optimism. After a solid freshman year where he played in 11 games and started the final nine, Fasusi is eager to hit the ground running in spring practices.
Reflecting on his growth, Fasusi shared, “I definitely see myself getting better in every single scheme. My hands have been faster, more aggressive.” It's clear that he's focused on honing his skills and making a significant impact on the field.
Fasusi will be part of a seasoned offensive line that retains much of its firepower from last season. Sophomore Ryan Fodje and redshirt sophomore Eddy Pierre-Louis return at guard, while redshirt senior center Jake Maikkula continues to anchor the line.
Adding to this experienced group is Arkansas transfer E’Marion Harris, stepping in at right tackle. Fasusi highlighted the importance of this continuity and how Harris’ arrival has enhanced communication within the unit.
“The time that was put in … feels like magic,” Fasusi noted. “We’re coordinating with each other, commenting on every single play.” This synergy is a focal point as the team aims to build consistency and sharpen their execution.
Head coach Brent Venables echoed this sentiment during media day on March 9, expressing his excitement about the returning talent on the offensive line. “You got Maikkula and Fodje and Fasusi and Pierre-Louis, and then you got Heath Ozaeta in there as guys coming back and then E’Marion Harris from Arkansas,” Venables said. “We got a little more experience coming back on offense.”
As the Sooners continue their spring practices, the emphasis remains on refining techniques and solidifying their foundation. With a veteran lineup and a full offseason to develop, Fasusi and his fellow linemen are poised to elevate their performance and make a significant leap forward this season.
