Oklahoma wrapped up its regular season with a gritty 17-13 win over LSU, pushing its record to 10-2 and cementing its No. 8 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. And while the win itself was a statement on the field, the ripple effects off the field may be just as significant. The Sooners didn’t just notch a season-defining victory - they also picked up serious momentum on the recruiting trail.
Two Big Gets for 2027
Just hours after the final whistle, Oklahoma landed 2027 edge rusher Krew Jones, a 6-5, 233-pound prospect out of Millville, Utah. Jones is a consensus top-200 player and brings the kind of frame and upside that defensive coordinators drool over. His commitment signals that the Sooners are already building a formidable defensive future.
The next day, OU added 2027 wide receiver Tra’Von Hall to the mix. While Hall is currently unranked, he’s been gaining traction on the recruiting radar with recent offers from Ole Miss, Colorado, and Mississippi State. Oklahoma clearly sees something special in him - and they moved fast to secure his pledge.

A Weekend Full of Visits and Visibility
Saturday’s game wasn’t just about what happened between the lines. The Sooners hosted a strong group of current commits and top targets, giving them a front-row seat to the program’s direction.

Two local commits - 2026 athlete Xavier Okwufulueze and 2027 offensive tackle Cooper Hackett - were in Norman for the win. They were spotted on the field alongside two other high-profile Oklahoma prospects: 2028 athlete Kamieon Compton-Nero and 2027 defensive back Semaj Stanford.
Okwufulueze, out of Owasso, OK, committed back in early September. At 6-4 and 195 pounds, he’s ranked as the No. 7 player in the state for the 2026 class and chose the Sooners over offers from TCU, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Utah.
Hackett, a 6-7, 250-pound offensive lineman from Fort Gibson, OK, is a 5-star in 247Sports’ composite rankings. He originally committed to Texas Tech but flipped to OU in September - a major win for Oklahoma’s offensive line future.
Compton-Nero, also from Owasso, is already turning heads despite being in the Class of 2028. The 6-3, 175-pound athlete is a consensus top-100 player and currently holds offers from Texas A&M, Tennessee, Missouri, and Arizona State, among others. He’s widely viewed as the top prospect in Oklahoma for his class.
Stanford, a 4-star safety from Broken Arrow, OK, stands at 5-11 and 180 pounds. He’s already fielding offers from national powers like Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, and Ole Miss. His presence in Norman this weekend was another sign that OU is staying aggressive in its pursuit of elite in-state talent.

More 2027 Talent in the Building
Another key visitor was 2027 defensive back Mikhail McCreary, a consensus 4-star recruit from San Antonio. McCreary committed to OU in September and brings a physical, playmaking presence to the secondary. As a sophomore in 2024, he tallied 46 tackles, nine pass breakups, and three interceptions - production that speaks to his instincts and versatility.
Also in attendance was linebacker Kristan Moore, a 2027 prospect from Selma, AL. Moore received his first Power Four offer from Oklahoma earlier in the week and made the trip to Norman to see the Sooners in action. At this stage, he’s a consensus 3-star, but OU’s early interest could be a sign of a rise to come.
I am blessed to have earned my 14th division 1 offer this one coming from Oklahoma University. Thank you @CoachVenables , & @DeMarcoMurray !!! All glory to GOD🙏🏽

Looking Ahead to 2028
Oklahoma also extended an offer to 2028 athlete Cartae Ligon following the win over LSU. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect from Chillicothe, OH, is still unranked, but he’s already drawing interest from programs like Penn State, Miami, Indiana, and NC State. The Sooners are clearly looking to get in early on a player they believe has breakout potential.
Building the 2026 Class Before Signing Day
While the 2027 and 2028 classes are getting plenty of attention, Oklahoma has also been busy shoring up its 2026 class ahead of Early National Signing Day.
On Monday, the Sooners landed commitments from defensive back Markel Ford and running back Jonathan Hatton. Ford, a 3-star out of Mesquite, TX, chose OU over offers from Auburn, Oregon, Texas, and LSU.
Hatton, meanwhile, had previously committed to the Sooners before flipping to Texas A&M last December. This week, he flipped back to Oklahoma - a significant win for the staff in a key recruiting battle.
Later in the week, wide receiver Jayden Petit flipped his commitment from Wisconsin to OU. Petit is a consensus 4-star and ranked No. 93 overall in the 2026 class by 247Sports. His addition gives the Sooners a dynamic playmaker who can stretch the field and make contested catches.
Finally, on Friday, Oklahoma added linebacker Dane Bathurst to the class. Bathurst, a 3-star from Carmel, IN, adds depth and physicality to the Sooners’ linebacker room.
Final Thoughts
Oklahoma’s win over LSU didn’t just cap a strong regular season - it sent a message. The Sooners are surging both on the field and on the recruiting trail. With elite prospects committing, key targets visiting, and momentum building ahead of signing day, this program isn’t just preparing for the College Football Playoff - it’s building for sustained success in the years to come.
