Oklahoma’s push into Utah came up just short of a clean sweep.
Consensus 4-star edge rusher Uhila Wolfgramm, a Spanish Fork, Utah native, has chosen BYU over Oklahoma, according to a report Thursday from Greg Biggins of Rivals. That leaves the Sooners with two 2027 commits from Utah instead of three.
Wolfgramm brings plenty of production with him. He’s listed at 6-3 and 245 pounds, and 247Sports ranks him No. 105 overall in the Class of 2027 and the No. 13 edge rusher.
In eight games for Maple Mountain High School in 2025, he posted 36 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He followed that with a sophomore season that included 34 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
Oklahoma got involved later than many of the schools in his recruitment. The Sooners offered him on March 31, then brought him to Norman for an official visit from May 29-31. That trip was one of five official visits he took, along with stops at BYU, UCLA, Utah and Cal.
After visiting Oklahoma, Wolfgramm spoke highly of what he saw.
“What appeals to me about Oklahoma is how family-oriented they are,” Wolfgramm told Sooners On SI. “The times I went there, I felt at home. That starts with the staff, the players they have and the players they bring in.”
In the end, though, BYU won out. Wolfgramm will join a Cougars program that has been near the top of the Big 12 standings lately, including a run to the Big 12 Championship Game in 2025 and an 11-2 finish.
He was on track to become the third Utah player to commit to Oklahoma in the 2027 cycle. Safety Bode Sparrow pledged to the Sooners last week, and edge rusher Krew Jones committed in November 2025.
Even without Wolfgramm, Oklahoma’s 2027 class remains loaded. The Sooners are No. 4 nationally in 247Sports’ team recruiting rankings with 26 commits. Ten of those pledges are rated four stars, and two - cornerback Gabriel Osborne Jr. and offensive lineman Kaeden Penny - are five-star prospects.

Oklahomas 2027 recruiting class keeps stacking up, and the early build has the Sooners sitting in a familiar spot near the top of the national board. The class now includes 26 commitments, split evenly between offense and defense, with no special teams pledges yet, and the latest addition has helped keep the group in the conversation as one of the best in the country.
There is still some movement left before the cycle settles, though, and the next few months could matter even more for how this class ultimately looks.
