Oklahoma’s injury picture is still messy, but the Sooners are getting a few important pieces back for Saturday’s game against Florida.
The latest availability report lists eight Oklahoma players as out, one as doubtful, one as questionable and two as probable. That means the Sooners will definitely be without Ryan Fodje, Cole Sullivan and Jacobe Johnson, and they’re also expected to be missing Eddy Pierre-Louis.
There is at least some good news on the other side of the report. Eli Bowen, Jake Maikkula, Jer’Michael Carter and Rocky Beers are all back this week, and Oklahoma could also have Elijah Thomas available if he gets the green light.
Peyton Bowen is the name to watch closest of all. He’s listed as questionable, which leaves open the possibility that Oklahoma could be without its star safety. That would be a tough hit for a secondary already dealing with plenty.
The bigger issue for the Sooners is the overall toll the injuries have taken. This has been one of the main storylines around the program all season, and it’s the third straight year Oklahoma has had to navigate a long list of key absences. Against Florida, the missing bodies along the offensive and defensive lines could matter just as much as the uncertainty in the secondary.
With so many players still unavailable, Oklahoma will need the next wave of contributors to step up if it wants to slow down Florida’s offense. At the same time, the return of Eli Bowen, Maikkula, Carter and Beers gives the Sooners a little more breathing room, and Thomas would be another welcome addition if he’s cleared to play.
Oklahoma heads into Gainesville still dealing with the same health problems that have followed it all season, but this report at least gives the Sooners a few more options than they had a week ago.

Oklahoma Gets A Needed Boost But Saturday Questions Still Linger
Oklahoma got a small but useful lift on the availability report ahead of its weekend matchup with Florida, with cornerback Eli Bowen and tight end Rocky Beers no longer listed and cleared to play. In a week where the injury list has been part of the conversation, that kind of update matters, especially for a Sooners team trying to sort through the ripple effects of recent injuries and keep enough depth intact on both sides of the ball.
Still, the broader picture is far from settled. Wide receiver Elijah Thomas and defensive end Kenny Ozawalu remain questionable, while eight players have already been ruled out and one is still doubtful, leaving plenty of uncertainty as kickoff approaches. For Oklahoma, the encouraging news on Bowen and Beers helps, but the final availability picture could still shape how the Sooners manage Florida and how much flexibility they have once the game actually starts. Oklahoma Gets An Early Chance To Calm Growing Concern Around Porter Moser
Porter Moser is already under a brighter-than-usual spotlight after Oklahoma opened the season with a loss to East Texas A&M, a result that only sharpened the sense that this is a critical year for the Sooners coach. The next stop offers a chance to steady things quickly, with Mississippi Valley State up next and a game that should give Oklahoma a cleaner read on where it stands early in the season.
The Sooners are also watching the status of injured guard Xzayvier Brown, whose return would matter as Oklahoma tries to settle into a rhythm. Mississippi Valley State comes in with Mike Davis beginning his first season there and a schedule that has not exactly offered much breathing room, as the program looks to move forward after several difficult years. David Stones NFL Buzz Leaves One Big Question For Oklahoma Fans
USA TODAY Sports has already started looking ahead to the 2027 NFL draft, and one projection has Oklahoma defensive tackle David Stone going 17th overall to the New York Giants. For Sooners fans, it is another reminder of how quickly Stone has gone from five-star recruit to a player drawing national attention, especially after promising showings against New Mexico and Mississippi State.
The buzz comes at a time when Oklahoma is trying to steady itself at 4-4 and turn its attention to Florida. Stones early draft stock is a good sign for the programs talent pipeline, but it also leaves the bigger question hanging over Norman: how much more can he show this season, and what does that mean for a defense still searching for consistency?
