The improbable run continues for Oklahoma.
After a commanding win over Texas A&M in the second round, the Sooners (19-14) are set to face No. 17 Arkansas in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday night. This matchup promises to be a thrilling late-night showdown.
Oklahoma has turned Selection Sunday into a nail-biter. Just a month ago, they seemed out of the running, but with six consecutive victories and eight wins in their last ten games, they've clawed their way back into the tournament conversation. A win against Arkansas could solidify their place in the NCAA Tournament when the brackets are revealed in a couple of days.
On the other side, Arkansas enters the game well-rested, having secured a double-bye by finishing third in the SEC. Under the guidance of John Calipari in his second year, the Razorbacks have enjoyed a strong season, winning four of their last five games. They are led by Darius Acuff Jr., a likely top NBA draft pick and one of the most dynamic guards in college basketball.
This will be the 34th meeting between Oklahoma and Arkansas, with the Razorbacks holding an 18-15 edge in the series. Earlier this season, Arkansas mounted a comeback in Norman to defeat the Sooners 83-79 on January 27th.
If Oklahoma can notch a third consecutive win in as many days, they'll face the winner of the Ole Miss vs. No. 15 Alabama matchup, which takes place earlier in Nashville.
