Isaiah Sategna didn’t just arrive in Norman and fit in - he took over.
After three seasons at Arkansas that produced 632 yards and three touchdowns, the Oklahoma wide receiver turned his first year with the Sooners into a true breakout. Sategna finished the 2025 season with 965 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, coming up only 35 yards short of becoming Oklahoma’s first 1,000-yard receiver since Marvin Mims in 2022.
That production put him right near the top of the SEC. Sategna ranked third in the conference in receiving yards, trailing Mississippi State’s Brenen Thompson and Tennessee’s Chris Brazzell.
His eight touchdown catches also tied for third, with Brazzell and Texas A&M’s K.C. Concepcion.
With all three of those players now in the NFL, Sategna heads into 2026 as the SEC’s leading returning receiver.
That’s part of why Athlon Sports’ Steve Lassan sees him as a strong candidate to finish first in the league in receiving yards this season. On “That SEC Podcast,” Lassan pointed to Sategna’s connection with quarterback John Mateer and the way Oklahoma’s passing game could keep growing.
"I went with Sategna at Oklahoma," Lassan said on 'That SEC Podcast.'"... I think Cam Coleman might lead the SEC in touchdown catches.
I think the yardage might be spread around. Sategna and Mateer built a nice connection last year.
They did bring in Trell Harris and Parker Livingstone, but I think there's a good chance that Sategna just builds on what he did last year, and a lot of these receivers are kind of clustered at the top of the conference for number one in receiving yards."
If Sategna can push past the 1,000-yard barrier, it would mark a major step for an Oklahoma offense trying to make real progress in Year 2 under Ben Arbuckle. The Sooners already know what they have in Sategna: a proven SEC receiver with big-play ability and a quarterback who trusts him.
Another jump from here would raise the ceiling for both player and team. With Mateer in place and Arbuckle’s system expected to feel more natural in its second season, Oklahoma has a real chance to turn Sategna’s rise into one of the league’s most dangerous passing attacks.
