CeeDee Lamb Shines as Cowboys Roll to Big Thanksgiving Victory

Former Oklahoma stars made headlines across the NFL on Thanksgiving, with CeeDee Lamb leading the charge in a standout Cowboys win.

The Dallas Cowboys delivered a statement win on Thanksgiving Day, and CeeDee Lamb was right at the heart of it. The former Oklahoma standout reminded everyone why he’s one of the most dynamic receivers in the league, hauling in seven catches for 112 yards and a touchdown in a 31-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

This was Lamb’s first 100-yard game since October 19, when he torched Washington’s secondary. And while injuries have limited his availability this season-he missed nearly a month with an ankle issue-his impact when healthy is undeniable.

He’s now up to 51 receptions for 744 yards and three touchdowns on the year, trailing only veteran George Pickens in receiving yards for Dallas. Pickens has been the Cowboys’ top target statistically in 2025, racking up 1,142 yards, but Lamb’s presence adds a different dimension to the offense-one that’s been especially noticeable during Dallas’ current three-game win streak.

At 6-5-1, the Cowboys are finding their rhythm, and Lamb’s return to form couldn’t have come at a better time. His chemistry with the offense is evident, and when he’s operating at full speed, defenses are forced to adjust. That’s what makes Lamb such a valuable piece for Dallas-not just his production, but the way he stretches the field and opens things up for everyone else.

Since entering the league in 2020 as the 17th overall pick, Lamb has built a résumé that speaks for itself: 547 receptions, 7,083 yards, and 41 touchdowns. He’s earned All-Pro honors three times, and that consistency has made him one of the league’s most reliable weapons. Before all of that, of course, he was lighting it up at Oklahoma, where he piled up 3,292 yards and 32 touchdowns over three seasons and helped the Sooners reach the College Football Playoff every year from 2017 to 2019.

Another former Sooner made headlines this weekend-this time on the defensive side. Rookie linebacker Danny Stutsman delivered one of the most punishing hits of the week in the Saints’ narrow 21-17 loss to the Dolphins.

On a pitch play to Miami’s De’Von Achane, Stutsman met the speedy back in the backfield, stopped him cold, and sent a message with a textbook lift-and-drive takedown. It was the kind of hit that gets replayed in film rooms-and on highlight reels-all week long.

That play was one of two tackles Stutsman registered on the day, bringing his season totals to 33 combined tackles and 12 solo stops over 12 games. The Saints picked him in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he’s been steadily carving out a role in New Orleans’ defense.

At Oklahoma, Stutsman was a tackling machine-376 total tackles, 37 for loss, eight sacks, and three interceptions over four seasons. He earned first-team all-conference honors in both 2023 and 2024 and was named a consensus All-American in his final year.

Meanwhile, Baker Mayfield continues to guide the Tampa Bay Buccaneers through a rollercoaster season, and while his numbers weren’t eye-popping on Sunday, he made the plays that mattered in a 194-yard, one-touchdown performance against the Arizona Cardinals. The highlight?

A little trickery on the goal line. On third-and-goal from the 2, Mayfield found left tackle Tristan Wirfs wide open for a walk-in score-one of those moments that shows just how creative Tampa Bay is willing to get in the red zone.

Mayfield also chipped in with six carries for 27 yards, helping the Bucs snap a three-game skid and move to 7-5 on the season-good enough to reclaim first place in the NFC South. It’s his third year with Tampa Bay, and while the journey to this point has included stops in Cleveland, Carolina, and Los Angeles, Mayfield seems to have found some stability with the Bucs.

Of course, Oklahoma fans remember where it all started. After transferring from Texas Tech, Mayfield led the Sooners to a 33-6 record as a starter, won the Heisman Trophy in 2017, and finished his college career with 12,292 passing yards, 119 touchdowns, and just 21 interceptions. He completed nearly 70 percent of his passes during that span, setting the stage for what’s been a winding, but resilient, NFL career.

From Lamb’s resurgence in Dallas to Stutsman’s physicality in New Orleans and Mayfield’s steady leadership in Tampa, it was a big weekend for former Sooners making their mark in the NFL. And as the playoff race heats up, their roles are only getting bigger.
