Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Faces Setback as Thunder Remain Shorthanded

Despite key injuries, the Thunder maintain their dominance in the West, while NBA teams make strategic roster moves and milestones are reached.

Thunder Update:

The Oklahoma City Thunder are navigating a challenging stretch as they emerge from the break, still missing key players. Superstar guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is sidelined with an abdominal strain and will be reevaluated in about a week.

This timeline suggests he could miss at least four more games, keeping the reigning MVP off the court for a bit longer. Shai hasn't played since February 3rd, missing the Thunder's final five games before the All-Star break.

Adding to their injury woes, guard Ajay Mitchell is also set for reevaluation in a week. The second-year player has been out for 11 consecutive games due to an abdominal strain and a left ankle sprain.

Meanwhile, forward Jalen Williams is facing at least a two-week absence after aggravating a right hamstring strain on February 11th in Phoenix. Williams had just returned from a 10-game hiatus before this setback and is expected to miss at least eight more games.

Despite these challenges, the Thunder have maintained their dominance. After a blistering 24-1 start, they are 18-13 over the past 31 games, yet still hold the top spot in the Western Conference with a 42-14 record.

Nuggets News:

The Denver Nuggets have officially added KJ Simpson to their roster on a two-way contract. Simpson, who is 23, was originally drafted by the Hornets in 2024.

He played in 50 games, starting 17, before being waived earlier this month. During his time on the court, he averaged 7.3 points and 2.9 assists in just over 21 minutes per game, though he hasn't played since December 18th.

This move comes after Denver promoted Spencer Jones to a standard contract, freeing up a two-way slot. Simpson will be eligible to participate in up to 16 regular season games, depending on when the deal is finalized.

Clippers Roster Moves:

The Clippers are set to make history with the signing of Omier, 24, who has been putting up impressive numbers with the Cleveland Charge, averaging 18.5 points and 11.1 rebounds. His debut will mark the first time a Nicaragua-born player takes the court in the NBA.

Joining him is Pedulla, 23, who has been making waves with the Rip City Remix, averaging 19.7 points and 5.3 assists. With these additions, the Clippers will have a full roster, bolstering their lineup for the remainder of the season.
