Oklahoma City Thunder: Jalen Williams' Return Sparks Optimism
After a season that saw him reach the pinnacle of NBA success, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams faced a challenging 2025-26 campaign. Missing 45 of the Thunder's 74 games due to injury, Williams is eager to finish strong as the regular season winds down.
Watching from the sidelines provided Williams with a fresh perspective on his team’s capabilities. "You realize how talented you are top to bottom," he shared.
"When you're in it, you probably don't notice as much until you're on the court with a certain group. But we are extremely talented.
That was really cool to watch." While he’s grateful for the insight, Williams is ready to leave the sidelines behind.
"Watching guys step into different roles and blossom was cool, but I'd rather be out there playing."
Reflecting on his personal journey through injury rehab, Williams expressed gratitude for his return to the court. "It's about not taking it for granted.
Jalen Williams’ honest take on where he’s at in his recovery: “The biggest thing for me is a mental thing. Last time I strained it, I felt good. And I had pulled it trying to reach for a pass.

You don't know when you'll play again, and it made me see basketball differently," he said. "Patience was key.
It's been a blessing in disguise. My hand feels really good, and I’m heading into the playoffs fresh."
Williams made an impactful return, scoring 18 points, dishing out eight assists, and grabbing six rebounds in the Thunder's 131-113 victory over the Chicago Bulls. His aggressive play was a highlight, especially during a decisive 22-0 run that sealed the game.
Head coach Mark Daigneault praised Williams' performance, noting his ability to disrupt the Bulls' defense. "He was on it tonight.
That opens up his playmaking because he’s touching the paint," Daigneault said. "He can get his vision and his reads of the game, which he’s exceptional at.
So, he played a really good game."
As the Thunder continue their five-game homestand, they look to build on this momentum against the Knicks on Sunday. Williams' return not only boosts the team's morale but also signals a promising push as they eye the playoffs.
