Ohio State's Davison Igbinosun Faces Crucial Test at Senior Bowl

With questions surrounding his consistency and discipline, Ohio States Davison Igbinosun heads into the Senior Bowl with a critical chance to reshape his NFL draft narrative.

Davison Igbinosun has a spotlight moment ahead of him in Mobile, and it’s one he’s more than ready for.

After transferring from Ole Miss to Ohio State ahead of the 2023 season, Igbinosun quickly proved he belonged on a defense loaded with NFL talent. Lining up opposite Denzel Burke, he settled in as the Buckeyes’ No. 2 corner and thrived in that role.

But when the baton was passed to him in 2025 and he stepped into the No. 1 cornerback spot, Igbinosun didn’t flinch. He embraced the challenge, and now he’s looking to take that next step at the Panini Senior Bowl.

Let’s be clear: Igbinosun is a fascinating prospect. At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, he’s built like the prototype NFL teams dream about at corner-long, athletic, and physical.

He’s got the fluidity to mirror receivers in man coverage, the closing speed to make plays on the ball, and the kind of length that makes quarterbacks think twice before testing him. That’s the kind of profile that gets scouts out of their seats during pre-draft season.

But he’s also a player with something to prove.

While Igbinosun flashed plenty of lockdown potential in Columbus, his college tape isn’t without its blemishes. Early in his career, he struggled with penalties-defensive holding and pass interference calls that sometimes came at crucial moments. To his credit, he cleaned up a lot of that as he matured, but the reputation lingered longer than the flags did.

Another wrinkle in evaluating Igbinosun is just how dominant Ohio State’s defense was during his time there. With guys like Jack Sawyer and Arvell Reese wreaking havoc up front, quarterbacks rarely had the time-or the desire-to test Igbinosun deep.

That’s a blessing for a corner, but it also means fewer opportunities to rack up stats. Over the past two seasons, he posted 15 pass breakups and four interceptions-not eye-popping numbers, but the tape tells a more complete story.

He didn’t get thrown at much, and when he did, he usually made it count.

Now, with the Senior Bowl on deck, Igbinosun has a golden opportunity to show NFL teams what kind of player he really is-up close, one-on-one, in a setting designed to separate the good from the great. And so far, he’s made the most of the week. Reports out of Mobile say he’s been solid in practice, holding his own against some of the top wideouts in this year’s draft class.

He’s currently projected as a Day Two pick-likely somewhere in the second or third round-and that feels about right given his tools, production, and upside. But Saturday’s game could move the needle. If he puts together a strong performance, shows he can stay disciplined in coverage, and continues to flash that physical, competitive edge, don’t be surprised if teams start viewing him as more than just a developmental prospect.

The Panini Senior Bowl kicks off Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NFL Network.

For Igbinosun, it’s not just another game-it’s a chance to prove he belongs among the best corners in the draft. And if the film is any indication, he’s ready to rise to the occasion.
