Ohio State Has One Injury Concern Fans Will Watch Closely Vs Oregon

Ohio State faces uncertainty in their lineup as they prepare for a crucial matchup against Oregon, with key players' statuses still up in the air.

Ohio State’s Wednesday availability report brought mostly encouraging news as the No. 12 Buckeyes get ready to face No.

23 Oregon in Columbus on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

The biggest name on the list is third-year left tackle Ian Moore, who is questionable. That’s the one real concern for Ohio State heading into a matchup that comes after a 30-18 loss at USC and ahead of Oregon’s 34-26 win over Northwestern.

Moore isn’t the only Buckeye with a tag next to his name. Wide receivers Brandon Inniss and Brock Boyd are also listed as questionable.

There was better news elsewhere. Third-year defensive tackle Eddrick Houston, who was hurt near the end of last week’s game, does not appear on the report at all. In this case, no listing is the best listing, since it means he is presumed available.

If Moore can’t play, Ohio State would likely turn to Austin Siereveld at left tackle. Siereveld started all 14 games there last season after playing all 16 games for the national champions in 2024 at both guard spots, a stretch that showed just how much the Buckeyes trust his versatility.

Boyd and Inniss both sat out last week, so getting either one back would matter in a game like this.

Another notable absence from the report is freshman cornerback Jay Timmons, who missed the USC game. And while Houston’s status looked like a potential worry after the USC injury, Ryan Day said Tuesday he didn’t expect it to be long-term. The fact that Houston isn’t even listed as questionable only strengthens that outlook.

Here are the availability reports for both teams.

Ohio State Still Has A Path But Two Problems Need Fixing Fast

Cris Carter still sees a route for Ohio State to salvage its season and stay in the College Football Playoff conversation, but the path is getting narrower by the week. The Buckeyes have already felt the sting of recent losses, and with national championship expectations never far from the surface in Columbus, the margin for error has basically disappeared.

What stands out now is how much has to come together at once. The defense needs to tighten up, Luke Fahey has to keep developing, and Ryan Day is carrying the kind of pressure that comes with every big-game stumble. The next stretch will say plenty about whether Ohio State can steady itself in time to keep its postseason hopes alive. [Read more 🡒]

Ohio State Faces One Oregon Threat Fans Can't Ignore

With College Football Playoff stakes hanging over the matchup, Ohio State is getting a fresh reminder that Oregons offense may not be the only thing to worry about. For Ohio State, the attention naturally shifts to Jeremiah Smith, who has been one of the teams top performers this season and a central part of the Buckeyes passing game.
