Ohio State’s next kickoff time is in, and Buckeyes fans are getting the kind of news they’ve come to expect from FOX: no night game at the Shoe.
The matchup with Northwestern, which had been long rumored as a possibility for a primetime slot, will instead kick off at noon on FOX in two weeks. That makes it another Big Noon Kickoff and means Ohio State fans will not get a home night game this season.
That part stings for a fan base that shows up every weekend and keeps getting handed the same television treatment. FOX continues to load up on Ohio State’s biggest games, and the tradeoff is that the Buckeyes’ home slate gets stripped of the kind of atmosphere fans were hoping for.
With this announcement, it’s also unclear when Ohio State will break out its brand-new black uniforms. The Buckeyes have three new uniforms this season, but they’ve only worn one so far, and the all-new scarlet look is still untouched.
The timing of the announcement only adds to the frustration around Ross Bjork, who has had a rough few days already. Ohio State fans clearly weren’t thrilled, either; the school even deleted its social media post announcing the game. The message from the fan base is hard to miss: if they’re paying more every year, they’d like something back besides another noon kickoff.
All of this lands at a tense moment for the Buckeyes on the field, too. After last weekend’s disappointment in Los Angeles, Ohio State’s season is on shaky ground. Another loss would knock the Buckeyes out of the College Football Playoff conversation and would stand as Ryan Day’s biggest failure so far as head coach.
Without Julian Sayin, things didn’t look right against USC. Ohio State scored only one touchdown against what was described as a bad Trojan defense, and the defense itself was even uglier.
Matt Patricia, in particular, looked completely lost. If that’s the version of the Buckeyes that shows up going forward, the rest of the season could unravel fast.
A preseason No. 1 ranking now looks like it may go to waste. Ohio State entered the year as the favorite to win a national championship, but the loss to Texas and the rough showing against USC have left the Buckeyes backed into a corner.
There’s still a lot of football left, and Ohio State has a big finish ahead. But if the Buckeyes don’t win out, the fallout could be real. Day is safe, but several assistants could be on the way out if Ohio State misses the CFP.

Ohio States latest loss did more than knock the Buckeyes down to 11th in the polls. It also put athletic director Ross Bjork in the middle of an awkward postgame scene that quickly spilled onto social media, where a video of his interaction with Lincoln Riley drew immediate attention and plenty of questions.
Bjork has already become a target for frustrated fans, with many calling for the university to take action even though the full details of what happened are still unclear. For a program that is used to every move being scrutinized, the murky nature of the exchange has only added another layer of unease around a difficult night. [Read more 🡒]
Ohio State Opens With One Big Question After Bruce Thornton
Ohio States 2026-27 mens basketball season opens with BYU, and the early conversation around the Buckeyes has already centered on how theyll replace Bruce Thorntons presence. A source pointed to a perimeter-heavy approach as the likely answer, with Juni Mobley and Amare Bynum expected to take on important roles as the offense adjusts to life without one of its most established guards.
Anthony Thompson and LJ Smith are also part of the early picture, with the staff watching how the freshmen settle into bigger responsibilities as the opener approaches. Health is another part of the equation, and the Buckeyes injury status will be worth monitoring as they try to sort out a new identity before the schedule gets rolling. [Read more 🡒]
Ohio State Fans Are Getting A Rare Team-Centric Nike Drop
Ohio State fans are getting a rare chance to buy into a sneaker drop that feels built specifically for them. Nikes Air Foamposite Pro College Pack is set to feature colorways tied to Ohio State, along with Florida State, LSU and TCU, with each design leaning on team colors, logos and other university-specific details rather than a generic school-inspired look.
The shoes are scheduled to release Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. ET, priced at $250 in adult sizes through the Nike SNKRS app and select retailers. For Buckeyes fans, it is the kind of team-centric rollout that does not come around often, and it should draw plenty of attention from both sneaker collectors and anyone looking for a more direct way to rep Ohio State.
