Ohio State Survives Iowa, Sets Up Showdown with Michigan
In an electrifying Big Ten Tournament clash, Ohio State edged past Iowa with a nail-biting 72-69 victory, advancing to face their archrival Michigan in the quarterfinals.
The Buckeyes had a rocky start at the United Center, trailing the Hawkeyes by six early on and struggling to find their offensive groove. They made just one of their first seven shots.
But as the first half unfolded, center Christoph Tilly found his rhythm, propelling Ohio State to a four-point lead at the break. The Buckeyes came out firing in the second half, stretching their lead to 16 points.
However, Iowa wasn't going down without a fight, closing the gap before Ohio State sealed the win.
Now, the stage is set for a high-stakes showdown against the No. 1 seed Wolverines, who enter the tournament with a double bye. Michigan, under head coach Dusty May, has been a powerhouse this season, boasting a 29-2 overall record and a 19-1 mark in conference play. Their stellar performance earned them the No. 3 spot in the AP Poll.

21 Auburn, No. 12 Gonzaga, and Villanova.
They crushed the Tigers by 30, the Zags by 40, and the Wildcats by 28, establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
Even in conference play, Michigan's momentum didn't falter. They started 4-0 before a narrow 91-88 loss to Wisconsin on January 10.
But that setback was merely a blip, as the Wolverines embarked on an 11-game winning streak. This run included handing Nebraska its first loss, triumphing over rival Michigan State on the road, and defeating No.
7 Purdue by 11 points away from home. After a brief stumble against Duke in a non-conference game, Michigan finished strong with four consecutive wins, including key victories at No.
10 Illinois and against the Spartans.
Ohio State, led by head coach Jake Diebler, is eager to notch their first win over the Wolverines this season. Their previous encounters have been tough.
In the first matchup in Ann Arbor, Ohio State held a six-point lead early in the second half, forcing Michigan into turnovers. However, the Wolverines rallied, securing a 74-52 victory.
The rematch in Columbus saw Michigan dominate from start to finish, with the Buckeyes unable to close the gap, resulting in an 82-61 defeat.
As the Buckeyes gear up for another crack at their rivals, they aim to replicate their spirited play from the first encounter. Tip-off is at 12 p.m.
