Ohio State Awaits Final Word In Massive WR Recruiting Battle

As the race to land top recruit Monshun Sales reaches its climax, fans eagerly await his live announcement on June 17th.

The long-running chase for Monshun Sales is finally heading to a finish line.

The elite five-star wide receiver announced Saturday that he will reveal his college decision on Friday, June 17, live on the Pat McAfee Show at 12:00 PM ET. His final group is down to Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, Indiana and LSU.

Sales has been one of the most closely watched names in this cycle, and for good reason. Rivals’ Industry Recruiting Rankings slot him as the No. 8 player in the country, the No. 2 wide receiver in the class and the top prospect in Indiana.

The road to this point has been anything but straightforward. Sales, nicknamed “Bama,” was long tied to Alabama early in the process, but the race has widened into a real battle. For much of the recruitment, Indiana looked like the school with the strongest momentum, especially with the hometown Hoosiers coming off their National Championship.

That said, the other contenders have kept themselves firmly in the mix. Ohio State’s reputation for developing wide receivers remains a major factor, and that track record could matter late.

Texas has also pushed hard, with Steve Sarkisian making a serious run. And with five-star Easton Royal considering a flip to LSU, the Longhorns may have reason to go all-in to finish the cycle with an elite receiver.

Alabama is still in the hunt despite a rough stretch on the recruiting trail, and Sales would be the kind of addition worth fighting for. Indiana, meanwhile, is building under Curt Cignetti, and landing Sales would be the biggest recruiting win the program could possibly secure.

With the decision date now set, the final week figures to bring one more round of pressure from the finalists before Sales makes his call.

Ohio State Nears A Massive Recruiting Decision Fans Wont Ignore

Ohio States 2027 recruiting class is already built around elite talent, with three five-star commitments and a national ranking that has the Buckeyes sitting ninth overall. The staff is still pushing to add at least two more five-stars before Signing Day, and one of the biggest names left on the board is David Gabriel Georges, along with receiver Monshun Sales, whose recruitment has become one of the more closely watched storylines in the cycle.

Sales has set a July 17 commitment date, giving Ohio State a clear marker as it tries to keep momentum going with a class that still has room to climb. The Buckeyes are in the mix with several other programs, but this one carries extra weight because of where Ohio State stands now and how much a win there could change the feel of the class heading into the fall. Carnell Tate Is Already Fueling A Debate Titans Fans Can't Ignore

Tennessees early buzz around Carnell Tate has only grown since the Titans used a premium pick on the Ohio State receiver, and Robert Saleh has wasted no time signaling how much the team thinks of him. Saleh has talked up Tates development and importance to the offense, pointing to a player who already looks like a meaningful part of the plan rather than a long-term project.

The surprise came as much from the draft slot as the selection itself, with Tate going far earlier than many around the league expected and even drawing some surprise from the receiver himself. For the Titans, though, the bigger issue is how quickly a young wideout can become part of the conversation around Cam Ward and the offense, especially when the expectations attached to that kind of pick are this high.
