Marcus Williamson Pleads Guilty To Nine Robberies After Shocking Crimes

Former Ohio State football star Marcus Williamson faces sentencing after admitting guilt in a string of audacious bank robberies.

In a surprising turn of events, former Ohio State football player Marcus Williamson has found himself on the wrong side of the law, pleading guilty to a string of bank robberies. Court records reveal that the 27-year-old admitted to nine counts of robbery, all linked to incidents in 2024.

One notable heist took place on April 24, 2024, at the First Merchant's Bank on N. High St.

Williamson reportedly approached a teller with a note claiming he was armed and demanded cash. The teller, fearing for their safety, complied with his demands.

Testimony from a Columbus Division of Police detective shed light on Williamson's modus operandi. He had a distinct pattern: driving the same Jeep, donning latex gloves and a mask, and using a note to assert he was armed and demanding money. This pattern made him a suspect in at least eight other robberies.

The detective also detailed how law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Williamson's vehicle and used a GPS tracker. This strategic move paid off when officers observed him exiting the bank with cash, leading to his swift arrest.

The series of robberies spanned from March 7 to April 24, marking a brief but intense crime spree. Williamson is now awaiting sentencing, scheduled for June 25.

Before his legal troubles, Williamson was a standout defensive back for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2017 to 2021. During his tenure, he contributed to four consecutive Big Ten championship victories and played on teams that reached the College Football Playoffs twice. Now, his promising athletic career is overshadowed by these serious charges.
