Jeremiah Smith keeps stacking up milestones, and now the Ohio State wide receiver has added another one to the list: midseason All-American.
Ohio State announced Thursday afternoon that Smith was selected by both the Associated Press and Sports Illustrated. It’s the latest checkpoint in a season that has already made him the most productive receiver in the country by several measures. Through six games, Smith has 48 catches for 916 yards and 11 touchdowns, numbers that put him second nationally in all three categories and first among Power-4 receivers in yards and touchdowns.
The Buckeyes’ star will carry that production into Saturday’s trip to No. 5 Indiana, a 12 p.m.
ET kickoff on FOX. Ohio State is 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Big Ten play.
The stat sheet around Smith gets more eye-catching by the week. In Ohio State’s game against Maryland, he finished with four receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
He now sits at 211 career catches, moving past Emeka Egbuka for the program record. He has 3,474 career receiving yards, which already stands as an Ohio State record, and he is the only receiver in school history to clear 3,000 career yards.
Smith’s 38 career receiving touchdowns are also the most in Buckeyes history, moving him ahead of Chris Olave. He is tied for third in Big Ten history in touchdown catches and needs two more to take the conference lead.
The record chase doesn’t stop there. Smith has already climbed into the top 10 in Big Ten career receiving yards and now sits fifth on that list, 315 yards shy of first. He also owns 15 career 100-yard games, which ties him with Marvin Harrison Jr. for the most in program history.
He’s already put together two 200-yard games this season, becoming the sixth Buckeye ever to do it. His top performances this fall have come against Illinois, when he piled up 217 yards, and at Iowa, where he went for 206. Those two games sit at the top of his career list for receiving yardage.
Ohio State’s release noted that Smith leads all Power-4 receivers in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns while ranking second in receptions. It also pointed out that he is the program’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, and that he is encroaching on the Big Ten records in both yards and touchdowns.
For a player already loaded with production, the list just keeps getting longer.

Ohio State Heads Into Indiana Showdown With Big Lineup Questions
Ohio State heads into its matchup with Indiana facing some early lineup uncertainty, with offensive lineman Austin Siereveld ruled out because of a non-football illness and running back JaKobi Jackson unavailable after suffering an ankle injury. Those absences alone would matter in a Big Ten game this size, but they are part of a larger injury picture for the Buckeyes, who have several other players still listed as questionable.
Indiana, meanwhile, has a much shorter injury report, with only two players listed. For Ohio State, the challenge now is less about the opponents health and more about how much flexibility the Buckeyes can preserve as they sort through the final availability questions before kickoff. [Read more 🡒]
Ohio State Freshman Legend Bey Suddenly Has A Real Chance To Earn Trust
An unexpected shakeup in the backfield has opened the door a little wider for Legend Bey. With Ja'Kobi Jackson ruled out for the upcoming game against Indiana and Isaiah West listed as questionable, Ohio State may need to lean on its freshman running back more than it had planned. The Buckeyes are also dealing with Austin Siereveld being out, which adds another layer of strain to the offensive line depth and could shape how the offense handles the ground game.
For Bey, this is the kind of moment that can change how a staff views a young player in a hurry. More snaps against Indiana would not just be about filling a need in the moment, but about showing he can be trusted if the Buckeyes have to keep adjusting on the fly. Ohio State has managed its backfield carefully so far, but the injury picture now gives Bey a real opening to make his case. [Read more 🡒]
Jeremiah Smith Just Gave Ohio State Fans A New Ranking Debate
ESPNs latest ranking stirred up a familiar kind of college football debate, and this one comes with a fresh Ohio State twist. The network put together a top-60 list of the best wide receivers in the past 50 years, blending talent and production, and it included some heavy company in Larry Fitzgerald, DeVonta Smith and Justin Blackmon.
Jeremiah Smith made the cut as the lone active college receiver on the list, which is already a notable honor for a player still early in his career. For Buckeyes fans, it is the kind of recognition that says plenty about how high Smiths ceiling already looks, even if the bigger conversation around where he fits historically is still very much ongoing.
