The 2028 quarterback race is already heating up, and Lukas Prock just made his board a whole lot smaller.
The four-star quarterback from The Hun School of Princeton in New Jersey announced Saturday that his top five is Indiana, Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida and Ohio State. Prock, one of the most productive passers in the class, has become a major national name early in the cycle.
Rivals national recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett first reported the cut, noting: "Four-Star QB Lukas Prock is down to 5 Schools, he tells me for @Rivals," Rivals national recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett broke the news. "The 6'3 195 QB threw for 4,330 yards and 42 TDs as a sophomore. He's ranked as a Top 5 QB in the 2028 Rivals300."
Prock is ranked No. 5 among quarterbacks in the 2028 Rivals300 and No. 55 overall nationally. The Rivals Industry Ranking, which blends the major services, has him at No. 68 overall and No. 7 at his position.
The Wellesley, Massachusetts native began at Wellesley High, where he threw for 2,109 yards and 25 touchdowns with only four interceptions as a freshman while also running for 410 yards. After transferring to Hun, his production jumped again.
As a sophomore, Prock completed 226 of 309 passes in 12 games and threw only seven interceptions. Rivals recognized him as a High School Football Sophomore All-America, and he also posted a 73% completion rate on more than 300 attempts against New Jersey prep competition.
His offer list is massive - more than 30 Power Four programs - but several heavy hitters did not make the final five. Georgia, LSU, Oregon and Penn State are among the schools that offered but were left out.
Prock told Rivals' Steve Wiltfong that Ohio State, Notre Dame and Indiana are the three programs that stand out most, with Michigan and Florida filling out the group.
Notre Dame has already been active in his recruitment. The Fighting Irish lost 2028 quarterback pledge Trey Tagliaferri to Oklahoma earlier in the cycle and have since zeroed in on Prock. He has visited South Bend three times, including a trip in March.
Ohio State enters the mix with some uncertainty of its own. The Buckeyes’ 2027 quarterback commit Brady Edmunds is openly considering a flip to UCLA, leaving Ryan Day’s staff potentially needing answers at the position in back-to-back classes.
Florida is the only SEC school still alive for Prock, a notable result for a program that currently has just one 2028 commitment in four-star receiver Armani Strong. Pulling a New Jersey quarterback away from the southern powers that offered him would be a strong sign of the Gators’ national pull.
Indiana may be the most eye-opening name on the list. For the Hoosiers to be in a top five for a top-70 national player says plenty about how far they’ve come with blue-chip quarterbacks.
Prock has said he would like to wait until after his junior season to make a decision, but that plan may not hold. Several quarterbacks ranked ahead of him are expected to commit this summer, and he has acknowledged that the movement around him could force his timeline to speed up.
