The Athletics are making a front-office change, with the club and general manager David Forst agreeing to part ways on Friday.
Assistant GM Dan Feinstein will serve as interim general manager for the rest of the 2026 season.
Forst’s run with the organization stretches back to 2000, when the Athletics brought him in as a scout. He later took over as GM after Billy Beane was promoted to executive vice president of baseball operations following the 2015 season, giving him 11 years in the role and 27 years with the franchise overall.
“David has been an integral part of the A's and our success for nearly three decades,” owner John Fisher said. “His leadership, dedication, and commitment to this team have helped shape our baseball operations department and position us for the future. We are grateful for everything David has done for our organization.”
Forst also released a statement on the move.
“It was truly an honor to spend the last 27 years with the A's, especially the last 11 as the GM,” Forst said. “This organization is full of incredibly talented, devoted, and good people, and I am lucky to have worked alongside them for so long.”
The change comes with the Athletics sitting at 45-70 and 13.5 games behind the Houston Astros in the AL West entering Friday.
The club is currently playing in a Triple-A park in West Sacramento, California, and is scheduled to move to Las Vegas for the start of the 2028 season.
