The Athletics are giving Jamie Arnold his next test, and it comes at Triple-A.
Arnold, the A’s No. 3 prospect on MLB Pipeline for 2026, is expected to join the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators, according to MLB.com’s Martín Gallegos. Outfielder Devin Taylor, the A’s No. 7 prospect on MLB Pipeline, is also reportedly headed up to Triple-A.
For Arnold, it marks the first promotion of his professional career. The left-hander was the No. 11 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft out of Florida State University, and the A’s sent him straight to Double-A Midland after he made his pro debut this year. Now the 22-year-old is moving one step closer to the majors at the end of the 2026 minor league season.
The timing fits with Arnold’s strongest stretch yet in the minors. In August, the 6-foot-1 southpaw put up a 1.57 ERA across four Double-A starts, piling up 29 strikeouts in 23 innings.
That month gave his season line a boost as well. Through 23 starts, he owns a 3.57 ERA with 125 strikeouts in 113 1/3 innings.
Arnold was the fifth pitcher taken in the 2025 draft, behind the Los Angeles Angels’ Tyler Bremner, the Seattle Mariners’ Kade Anderson, the St. Louis Cardinals’ Liam Doyle, and the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Seth Hernandez. Among that group, Arnold is now set to be the first to pitch at Triple-A, although Anderson has already reached the majors after only 18 Double-A starts.
With just a few weeks left in the Triple-A season, Arnold probably won’t have long to settle in with Las Vegas. Still, he’ll get a look at the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, and a strong showing could put him in the mix for the A’s rotation sometime in 2027.

As Suddenly Have A Bigger Problem Than Another Loss
The Athletics had plenty of trouble keeping pace in their 8-5 loss to Texas in the middle game of the series, but the bigger concern came long before the final out. Oakland never really recovered after the Rangers grabbed the early lead and kept adding to it, with Brandon Nimmo driving in five runs to keep the pressure on throughout the afternoon. The As had chances to answer, but the game repeatedly slipped away in the kind of spots that tend to define close divisional matchups.
Oaklands offense did not help its own cause, finishing just 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and leaving 14 on base.
