The Athletics’ move to Las Vegas is starting to pick up real financial shape, and Mark Cuban is now part of the picture.
Harbinger Sports Partners announced that it has joined Cuban in buying a minority stake in the A’s to help support the club’s relocation to Las Vegas for the 2028 season. The group was founded by Rashaun Williams, who also owns part of the Atlanta Falcons organization in the NFL. Thursday’s announcement did not say what percentage of the Athletics had been acquired.
According to the group, it has raised more than $450 million, a significant development as the team continues working through the funding side of its stadium project. That money comes at a time when progress on the new ballpark in Las Vegas has been described as looking very good.
The stadium timeline also took a major step forward just days ago, when it was announced that the ballpark is planned to be completed on February 29th, 2028. The goal is for the park to be ready in time for Opening Day in the 2028 MLB season.

The construction update adds another clear marker to a move that still has plenty of moving parts. With a completion date now on the books and new investment backing the transition, the A’s have at least gained some clarity on the future.
That future is still unfolding while the present remains messy. The team has been on a downward spiral recently, and with the trade deadline just over a week away, they have yet to make any major moves. Aaron Civale was dealt to the Cubs, and the return was a minor league arm.
Because the A’s are heading out of contention, names such as Tyler Soderstrom or Shea Langeliers could come up before the deadline. But moving Langeliers would be a major setback as the franchise heads into its Las Vegas years.
For now, Cuban’s arrival gives the organization a high-profile investor with plenty of experience in sports and business. He made his mark running the Dallas Mavericks and remains widely known for his role on "Shark Tank". Going forward, his name figures to come up often whenever the A’s and Las Vegas are in the same conversation.
