Notre Dame’s quarterback board in the 2028 class has thinned out fast, and the Irish may not have the luxury of waiting much longer on their lone remaining target.
Lukas Prock is the only quarterback in the class who currently holds an offer from Notre Dame, and he’s already signaling that his timeline may need to change. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect told 247Sports’ Brian Dohn that he would rather wait until after this season to make a decision, but he also acknowledged that may no longer be realistic as more of the top quarterbacks come off the board.
Prock said: “The last thing I want is all my top three (Notre Dame, Ohio State and Indiana), top four options being taken and then me sitting there saying ‘All right, what do I do know?’”
That concern makes sense given how quickly the 2028 quarterback dominoes have started to fall. Notre Dame’s pursuit hasn’t exactly gone smoothly, either.
Trey Tagliaferri committed to the Irish, then quickly backed off that pledge and joined Oklahoma’s class. With only four offers out to quarterbacks in the cycle, Notre Dame has already seen two targets commit elsewhere, while a third, Kingston Preyear, is set to announce on Friday and is most likely not headed to South Bend.
At the moment, none of Prock’s top choices - Notre Dame, Ohio State and Indiana - has landed a quarterback commitment, though that could change in the coming months. Notre Dame has not moved on to another quarterback in the class, which leaves the Irish in position to keep pushing for Prock and, potentially, get him sooner than he originally planned.

Sam Hartman Faces Another Defining Test In His NFL Fight
Sam Hartman is back in a familiar setting this summer, training at Oceanside Collegiate Academy as he gets ready for the next round of his NFL battle. The former Notre Dame quarterback is working alongside Drake Maye and Sam Howell ahead of training camps, using the workout group to sharpen his game before the Washington Commanders open up their fall evaluations.
For Hartman, the challenge is bigger than just staying in shape. He finished last season as Washingtons third-string quarterback after signing as an undrafted free agent, and the roster picture has only gotten tighter as camp approaches. With a spot still there to be won, this stretch is another important test for a player who knows every rep matters. [Read more 🡒]
Jaylen Sneed Just Changed Notre Dames Defensive Ceiling
Jaylen Sneeds rise has been one of the more steady developments on Notre Dames defense, the kind of climb that starts on the scout team and ends with a real voice in the linebacker room. Over time, he has gone from a player learning the system to an integral part of the rotation, and his growth has shown up not just in snaps but in the way he carries himself on the field and in peer coaching settings.
Sneeds continued development under the staff matters because Notre Dame has built enough continuity on defense to think bigger than just another solid season. His presence gives the Irish another experienced piece in the middle of the unit, and it also keeps the door open for more leadership decisions to come as the program sorts through its next group of captain candidates.
