Quincy Porter, a former Buckeye, is set to make waves at Notre Dame, bringing his talent and team-first mentality to the Irish offense.
Notre Dame's receiver position has seen its share of ups and downs recently. With a mix of seasoned and fresh talent returning, the Irish still kept an eye on the transfer portal. It seemed unlikely they'd snag a receiver from a powerhouse like Ohio State, but they managed to bring in not one, but two former Buckeyes.
Joining the ranks is rising redshirt freshman Quincy Porter. Standing at 6-4 and weighing 197 pounds, Porter is eager to make his mark with Notre Dame's receiving corps. He feels he's found the perfect fit with the Fighting Irish.
"You can really feel the brotherhood," Porter shared. "There's always someone in the locker room, working and connecting. It's a great sign of the team's closeness."
With Malachi Fields heading to the NFL, Notre Dame needed a big-bodied boundary player. Porter is ready to step into that role and contribute wherever needed.
"I think I'll most likely be a boundary receiver," Porter said. "But they'll move me around. I'm ready for whatever they need."
Having spent a year learning from top talent like Jeremiah Smith at Ohio State, Porter is bringing valuable experience to South Bend. Ohio State is renowned for producing elite receivers, and Porter absorbed a lot during his time there.
"I learned to take pieces from different players' games," Porter explained. "Jeremiah had his skill set, and I picked up various elements from others to become the best receiver I can be."
The Notre Dame receiving corps is underrated heading into the offseason. Despite returning players like Jaden Greathouse and Jordan Faison, the group tends to fly under the radar.
But with the addition of Porter and Graham, and the rise of players like Cam Williams, Micah Gilbert, and Elijah Burress, they’re poised to surprise many. Porter is expected to play a crucial role, and he’s ready to deliver when called upon.
