Georgia Tech’s 2027 ACC schedule picture changed in a meaningful way on Thursday, and the biggest adjustment is one the Yellow Jackets will notice immediately: Notre Dame is out, and a conference road trip to Boston College is in.
The ACC announced Georgia Tech’s 2027 opponents, and the shift means the Yellow Jackets will play nine conference games instead of the eight-conference, four-non-conference setup that had been on the books. Under the old plan, Georgia Tech’s non-conference slate included home games against Hampton and Georgia, plus road games at Tennessee and Notre Dame. That lineup had shaped up as one of the nation’s toughest.
Now, the Fighting Irish are off the schedule, and Boston College takes that spot on the road.
There was another change in the mix, too. Georgia Tech had been set to face North Carolina and Syracuse in 2027, but those matchups have been replaced by home games against Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.
Even with Notre Dame gone, the schedule still looks brutal from top to bottom.
Hampton is the one game that stands out as the clearest win on paper, and Georgia Tech should be favored against Boston College, although the Eagles could have a new coach. Beyond that, there just isn’t much room to breathe. The Yellow Jackets are staring at a slate loaded with ACC programs that can all make life difficult.
At home, Cal won’t be a soft landing, especially if it can keep Jaron Keawe-Sagopolutele in Berkley for another season, because that would give the Bears one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Virginia Tech should be better in year two under James Franklin.
Virginia has emerged as an ACC contender under Tony Elliott. Pitt remains a steady, physical program under Pat Narduzzi.
And Georgia will be one of the best teams in the country.
The road games are no kinder. Tennessee is still projected to be a playoff contender in 2027.
Miami is one of the favorites to reach the national championship game this season. Wake Forest is 11-4 under Jake Dickert.
SMU has become one of the ACC’s best programs under Rhett Lashlee. Florida State may have a new head coach.
For Georgia Tech, the 2027 slate still carries plenty of weight, and the ACC’s latest release left the Yellow Jackets with one of the league’s toughest schedules.
