Notre Dame Just Reopened The Door To A Dream 5-Star Flip

As Kaden Henderson reevaluates his college decision, Notre Dame has a renewed chance to sway the highly-touted linebacker away from Texas A&M.

Notre Dame is getting one more crack at Kaden Henderson, and this one matters.

The 5-star linebacker is reportedly set to be in South Bend on November 7, when the Fighting Irish host Miami. After Notre Dame had seemed to fall out of the race for a while, the visit gives Marcus Freeman’s staff a late opening to make its case again.

Henderson has been committed to Texas A&M since June 18, 2026, and by most accounts the Aggies still hold the edge. But that commitment came after a surprising turn, with several predictions pointing to Notre Dame just days before he chose Texas A&M over the Irish and LSU. Since then, Henderson has made it clear the battle between Notre Dame and Texas A&M was close.

The timing of this trip only adds to the intrigue. Texas A&M has stumbled this season, and that has helped fuel optimism around Notre Dame’s chances.

The Aggies fell to Kentucky, then were blown out by LSU, 35-6. They are now 4-4 after a 31-20 loss to Alabama, and it has been more than a month since they beat an FBS opponent.

Notre Dame hasn’t been perfect either, but if Henderson sees the Irish handle Miami, that could leave an impression. The pitch is simple: a chance to play for a perennial playoff contender.

Henderson is a 5-foot-0½, 225-pound linebacker from Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida. He is ranked No. 22 overall in the 2027 class, No. 1 among linebackers, and No. 3 in the state of Florida in the latest 247Sports Composite rankings.

His production backs up the hype. As a junior in 2025, Henderson totaled 49 tackles, including 31 solo stops, 13 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks in 10 games despite missing significant time because of injury. He also added 20 quarterback hurries, 4 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt, and he returned that fumble recovery 56 yards for a touchdown.

As a sophomore in 2024, he put up 85 tackles, including 55 solo tackles and 10 tackles for loss, plus one interception, 2 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and 4 quarterback hurries.

Through eight games of his 2026 senior season, Henderson has 59 total tackles, with 40 solo tackles and 19 assists, along with 14 tackles for loss and 8 sacks. He is averaging 7.4 tackles per game and has also recorded 6 quarterback hurries, 2 interceptions, 2 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.

Notre Dame’s visit opportunity is real, but the expectation is that this won’t end quickly. Henderson probably won’t commit this weekend, and he is most likely to return to Texas A&M once more before the decision stretches to Signing Day in December.

Mario Cristobal Just Framed What Notre Dame Means To Miami

Mario Cristobal spent part of the buildup to Miamis matchup with Notre Dame making clear that the conversation inside the Hurricanes program is less about the noise around the game and more about the work required to win it. The Miami coach praised the Irish and their quarterback, then steered the focus back to the basics, stressing fundamentals, preparation and the kind of technique that tends to decide big games in November.

Cristobal also framed the matchup as one that demands intensity without distraction, which is a useful reminder of how much this game still means on both sidelines. For Notre Dame, that kind of respect from an opponents head coach is another sign of the standard the Irish bring into these meetings, even if the real test will come down to whether Miami can match that level when the ball is actually kicked off.
