Notre Dame has put itself in the mix for one of the most eye-catching safety prospects in the 2028 class, and the name alone would turn heads anywhere. Cornbread Adams - yes, his real name is Antwaun - is the kind of recruit that instantly grabs attention before anyone even gets to the film.
The 4-star safety is already drawing a wide national chase, and his profile keeps climbing as he heads toward his junior season. Adams recently announced that he is changing schools, moving from Magnolia (MS) South Pike to Chattanooga (TN) Baylor School, one of the country’s top high school football programs. That shift adds another layer to a recruitment that is already heating up fast.
At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Adams is ranked by 247Sports Composite Rankings as the No. 110 player in the 2028 class, the No. 10 safety, and the No. 4 player in Tennessee. Rivals Industry Rankings has him at No. 5 in Mississippi, No. 13 nationally at safety, and No. 115 overall.
The offer list is already stacked. Along with Notre Dame, Adams has offers from Auburn, California, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Tulane, among others.
His production at South Pike backed up the hype. Playing both ways for a 3-7 team in 2025, the rising junior finished with 25 tackles and three interceptions on defense and added 25 catches for 466 yards as a receiver.
Notre Dame is still relatively early in the process here, since the Irish offered earlier this week. But a visit to South Bend is likely on the table, and that would give the staff a chance to show Adams how he could fit into Chris Ash's defense, especially with the safety position having been one of the best in college football.
