Sports Illustrated’s latest mock 2027 NFL draft put a pair of Notre Dame standouts right next to each other in the first round, with cornerback Leonard Moore and quarterback CJ Carr both landing in the top 10.
SI had Moore going No. 9 to the Baltimore Ravens and Carr following at No. 10 to the Cleveland Browns, a back-to-back projection that gives the Irish two premium picks in the same stretch of the draft.
Moore’s stock, according to the report, is built on the kind of all-around coverage profile that makes scouts lean in. He has five tackles, a pass break-up and a pass deflection through three games for the US LBM Coaches Poll No.
3 Irish, and SI called him “to be a steal here” for Baltimore. The outlet also wrote, “He’s a prospect who will likely become a shutdown corner in the pros,” adding that “The 6-foot-2, 197-pound Moore also has a nose for the ball after recording five interceptions in 2025.
Teams haven’t targeted much of his side of the field through three games this season.”
Carr, meanwhile, was described as a quarterback who has “quietly put up stellar numbers” when stacked against the other passers projected ahead of him: Texas’ Arch Manning, Oregon’s Dante Moore, Miami’s Darian Mensah and Ole Miss’s Trinidad Chambliss.
Through three games this season, Carr has completed 72.6% of his passes for 726 yards, an average of 242 yards per game, with six touchdown throws and one rushing score. SI also noted, “However, similar to Mensah, Carr will need to prove it when the schedule gets tougher later in the season,” before adding, “Still, it’s hard not to be impressed with the 6-foot-2, 215-pound signal-caller, who has shown strong command as a pocket passer.”
