Jeremiyah Love, the standout running back from Notre Dame, has sent a clear message to the NFL: he’s not interested in joining the Dallas Cowboys. As the top running back prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft, Love is generating plenty of buzz, but his recent comments at the NFL Combine have added a new twist to the draft narrative.
When asked about the Cowboys, often referred to as “America’s Team,” Love’s response was both candid and telling. “Who is that?”
he quipped, before adding that his father, a devoted Steelers fan, has no love for the Cowboys. This playful yet pointed remark underscores Love’s preference to steer clear of Dallas, especially after the team’s recent $24 million extension with running back Javonte Williams.
With the Cowboys holding the No. 12 pick, their chances of snagging Love seem slim, especially given his projected draft position. Many analysts, including ESPN’s Mel Kiper, have Love pegged for the Kansas City Chiefs, who hold the No. 9 pick.
This potential pairing makes a lot of sense. The Chiefs have struggled to find a consistent ground game since their last 1,000-yard rusher in 2017, and Love could be the answer to their prayers.
Incorporating Love into the Chiefs’ lineup could rejuvenate their offense, forcing defenses to respect the run and giving Patrick Mahomes more freedom to work his magic. With Love in the backfield, Kansas City’s offense could reach new heights, making them a formidable force once again.
