Aiden O'Neill, a highly sought-after defensive lineman, recently visited Notre Dame and came away impressed, placing the Fighting Irish in his Top 7 teams. The visit left a mark not just because of what O'Neill observed, but also because of the warm reception he received.
O'Neill shared his positive experience, noting, "I had a great time. Their hospitality was great.
I felt very welcomed there, and I felt like I belonged." That sense of belonging could be pivotal for Notre Dame as they aim to secure his commitment.
The connection extended beyond the coaching staff; O'Neill found common ground with the players as well. "I think the guys are just so down to earth," he remarked.
"I got to talk to a couple of the players and had the opportunity to go out to dinner with some of the coaches and players. They were just really nice, and they felt like real people."
Notre Dame's interest in O'Neill is understandable. He's ranked as the No. 108 player in his class by Rivals Industry Rankings and No. 127 by 247Sports Composite. Both rankings place him as the third-best player in New Jersey and among the Top 15 EDGE rushers in the 2027 class.
While Notre Dame has made significant progress with recruits in the 2027 class, they face stiff competition. Texas A&M, Tennessee, Penn State, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky also vie for O'Neill's commitment. The Fighting Irish have set a solid foundation, but maintaining momentum will be crucial in this recruiting battle.
