Vince Carter is not holding back!
Jay Williams stirred the pot with his claim that UNC is no longer a "Blue Blood," a statement that seemed even more provocative given Duke's recent stumble in the Elite Eight.
This didn't sit well with former Tar Heel and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Vince Carter, who addressed the comments on his podcast.
Vince Carter Fires Back at Jay Williams
On his podcast, "Cousins with Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady," Carter didn't mince words in response to Williams' take on UNC's Blue Blood status.
"I just wanna touch on one thing: hearing Jay Will go on about Carolina not being a Blue Blood, bro. You done lost your damn mind," Carter said. "Don't think because of this, 'cause of that, we'll always be a Blue Blood, bro."
Carter pointed out Williams' involvement in the Duke-Carolina rivalry, noting that Williams had picked UNC to win at home this year. "Like I get it, we're down. But to say we're completely not a Blue Blood is just, man."
Tracy McGrady added some spice to the conversation, mentioning UNC's ongoing search for a new head coach and the "internal fighting," including the Rashad McCants beef with Raymond Felton and Theo Pinson. Carter quickly dismissed this, saying, "families argue."
Well played, VC.
Jay Williams might want to focus on his Blue Devils, who seem to struggle despite their talent-rich roster. While North Carolina is working to regain its form, Duke should perhaps reflect on their own challenges in the NCAA Tournament, despite consistently landing top recruits.
Maybe it's time for them to focus on their own issues in Durham, rather than letting Chapel Hill occupy their thoughts.
