The University of North Carolina's swimming team made waves in Atlanta, with their 400 medley relay squad earning honorable mention All-America honors. The team, composed of Sophia Frei, Samantha Armand, and Kamryn Meskill, secured a 14th place finish with a time of 3:30.17.
Frei kicked off the relay with a swift 51.55, setting the pace. Armand took over with the breaststroke leg, clocking in at 58.89. Macaulay powered through the butterfly with a 51.85 split, and Meskill anchored the team with an impressive 47.88.
Armand wasn't done there-she set a personal best in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.88, moving her to fifth on UNC's all-time list. Frei also showcased her versatility, finishing 23rd in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.52.
Emma Karam wasn't far behind, coming in 27th at 51.79. Meanwhile, Sofia Knight competed in the 3-meter dive, securing 28th place with a score of 289.40.
The Tar Heels are set to wrap up the Championships on Saturday, competing in events like the 200 IM, 200 fly, 200 back, platform, and the 400 free relay. Prelims kick off at 10 a.m., with finals slated for 6 p.m. Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+.
