UNC Lands Explosive 2027 RB During Visit

A rising star from Arkansas, Isaiah Stephens, commits to UNC, bringing explosive potential to the Tar Heels' backfield.

The Tar Heels had a banner day on Saturday, securing two commitments in quick succession. The standout among them was Isaiah Stephens, a top running back target, who made his decision while visiting Chapel Hill.

Stephens, currently unranked in the 2027 class, chose the Tar Heels over notable programs like Ole Miss, Purdue, and SMU. His commitment was first reported during an unofficial visit to watch a Tar Heel spring practice.

Hailing from Sheridan High School in Arkansas, Stephens has already showcased impressive talent. Last season, as a junior, he racked up 1,381 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 197 carries.

He also proved his versatility with 48 receptions for 619 yards and four touchdowns over eleven games. The previous year, his sophomore stats were equally impressive, with 1,526 rushing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 61 catches for 911 yards and nine touchdowns.

While Stephens may not have a ranking just yet, it's only a matter of time. His game tape reveals a player with exceptional speed and acceleration, qualities that the Tar Heels are eager to add to their backfield.

His ability to break tackles with his quickness and agility makes him a formidable presence on the field. As a receiver, Stephens exploits mismatches effectively, making him a dual threat.

Although it might take some time for him to climb the depth chart, Stephens' potential is undeniable. He could very well become one of the most complete running backs the Tar Heels have seen in recent years.
