CJ Rosser keeps turning up in Chapel Hill, and North Carolina keeps making a serious impression.
The No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2027 was back on campus this weekend for another unofficial visit, this time to get a better feel for what UNC basketball looks like under Michael Malone. Rosser had already been to Chapel Hill during the Hubert Davis era, but the coaching change hasn’t cooled the connection between the two sides.
This latest trip gave the Rocky Mount, North Carolina native another chance to take in the program up close, and he made sure to share a few photos from the visit on Instagram. In them, Rosser is wearing both sets of UNC basketball uniforms, and the images quickly started making the rounds with fans, current Tar Heels, and other recruits chiming in.

Rosser’s recruitment has been trending in North Carolina’s direction, and the Tar Heels have been working hard to keep the in-state star home. The 6-foot-9 forward has shown plenty of interest back, which is exactly why this visit carried so much weight.
There are obvious reasons UNC is in the mix. Caleb Wilson’s run last season showed how quickly a talented forward can become the center of attention in Chapel Hill before moving on as a top-five NBA Draft pick. The coaching staff is different now, but the program’s pull hasn’t changed.
Then there’s Malone, and that matters too. He arrives with a strong NBA background, including an NBA title with the Denver Nuggets, and a track record of coaching high-level players and getting the most out of them. For a player with NBA ambitions, that kind of development pitch is hard to ignore.
North Carolina is clearly swinging big on the recruiting trail, and Rosser sits near the top of the board. Based on this visit, the Tar Heels look very much like a program he can picture himself in.
