Grant Duggins now has the UNC offer that had seemed inevitable.
The Class of 2029 standout was in Chapel Hill just a few weeks ago for an unofficial visit, but he left campus without an offer from the Tar Heels. That changed on Wednesday, when Michael Malone and his staff made an in-state visit and officially extended one.
Duggins, a Greensboro, North Carolina native, confirmed the news on social media.

The 6-foot-10 forward is already drawing plenty of attention. He is ranked No. 8 overall in the Class of 2029 and sits as the No. 1 player in North Carolina. After a strong year at both the high school and AAU levels, Duggins has become the kind of prospect every major program is going to track closely.
His game is still developing, but the tools are obvious. Travis Branham of 247Sports praised the broad skill set that has people excited about his ceiling.
"Duggins has great feet and feel on the block with counter moves, he can put the ball on the deck and score off the dribble, he can fly off screens and hit shots from three, he's a good passer, he blocks shots and rebounds at a high level."
For UNC, this is the kind of in-state recruitment that matters. Tar Heel fans have long embraced homegrown talent, and with the Michael Malone era getting underway, many will be watching to see whether the program can become the top choice for players like Duggins. He has already put himself into the conversation as the state’s best prospect, regardless of class.
Now that the offer is official, UNC is firmly part of the picture for one of the top in-state talents in the country. The next question is how aggressively Malone and his staff pursue him from here.

UNC May Need To Survive Syracuse Shorthanded Again
North Carolina heads into its matchup with Syracuse carrying another familiar injury report, and this one could leave the Tar Heels thin in a few key spots. The larger concern is the overall depth chart, with eight Tar Heels already out for the game before kickoff even arrives. Syracuse has its own availability issues with five players ruled out, but UNCs challenge is more about absorbing the losses and finding enough healthy bodies to stay balanced on both sides of the ball. Syracuse is dealing with its own quarterback uncertainty, with two passers already out and its top option still listed as questionable. If the Orange have to turn to junior Danny Lauter, the matchup could take on a very different look than expected, and UNC will be watching closely to see which bodies it actually has available by game time.
