UNC football is adding a permanent tribute to its biggest names at Kenan Stadium this weekend, with two new Hall of Fame displays set to be unveiled during Saturday’s game against No. 3 Notre Dame.
The displays will honor the 12 Tar Heel legends who were inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, or both. North Carolina said the College Football Hall of Fame display will go in the northeast corner of Kenan Stadium, while the school’s Pro Football Hall of Famers will be recognized in the southeast corner.
That means some of the most recognizable figures in program history - Charlie “Choo Choo” Justice, Lawrence Taylor, Julius Peppers, Dré Bly, and Mack Brown among them - will now have a permanent place in the stadium they helped define.
North Carolina is also bringing Hall of Famers and their families back to Chapel Hill for a weekend-long celebration. The school said the group will be recognized on the field, and the new displays will be formally dedicated during the first half of the game.
Halftime will carry plenty of its own significance, too. The Diamond Heels, fresh off their run to the 2026 College World Series Championship series, are also scheduled to be honored.
UNC football has long had its history woven into Kenan Stadium, but this weekend adds something more lasting. With a sold-out crowd expected for the Notre Dame matchup, the timing gives the program a stage worthy of the names going up on the wall.

Belichick Makes Clear What Matters Now For UNC Football
Bill Belichick said the North Carolina football programs focus right now is less about the noise around it and more about getting the operation where it needs to be. With the Tar Heels navigating investigations and personnel changes, he framed the moment as one centered on doing things the right way and addressing the areas flagged by outside counsel.
Belichick also made clear how limited his role has been in the process, saying he was only involved in answering some questions while the legal details were handled by lawyers. For North Carolina, the message was less about the headlines themselves than the work still ahead, and what the program chooses to do next in response to them. [Read more 🡒]
Former Tar Heels Reunite On A Sideline UNC Fans Will Want To Follow
A familiar Carolina connection is making its way back onto a sideline worth watching. King Rice, now the head coach at Monmouth, has hired Shammond Williams as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 season and beyond, bringing together two former Tar Heels whose paths have now crossed again in the coaching ranks.
Williams arrives with a long rsum that should make him an intriguing addition anywhere, including more than 20 years of professional playing experience and 13 years in college coaching. His recent stops include Denver and Old Dominion, and Rice has made no secret of his excitement about adding a former teammate to the staff, a reunion UNC fans will naturally keep an eye on even from a distance. Top-Ranked UNC Faces Another Huge ACC Test At Dorrance Field
No. 1 Carolinas womens soccer team is back at Dorrance Field for another major ACC measuring stick, this time with No. 12 Notre Dame coming to Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels have strung together seven straight wins and sit atop the league standings at 3-0, with Bella Devey helping drive the attack as the teams goal leader.
Notre Dame brings plenty of history with it, too, as the programs have already met 35 times and Carolina has owned the series. Even in a familiar setting, this is the kind of conference matchup that can say plenty about where the Tar Heels stand as the season tightens, especially with another ranked opponent trying to interrupt their rhythm.
