Travel packages are on the board now for the 2027 Nashville Hoops Showdown, giving fans a chance to turn a neutral-site college basketball game into a full Nashville trip. Illinois and North Carolina will meet in the Music City on Jan. 30, and the package options are built around the game-day experience from start to finish.
Fans can lock in packages by going to www.nashvillehoopsshowdown.com/travel. Each package includes tickets in the respective team fan blocks, hotel accommodations at one of Nashville’s premium properties, and an exclusive hospitality experience inside Bridgestone Arena on game day. North Carolina’s hotel will be the JW Marriott Nashville, while Illinois will stay at The Westin Nashville.
Single-game tickets are set to go on sale Oct. 15.
For North Carolina, the trip carries a bit of novelty. It will be the Tar Heels’ first game in Nashville since a road contest against Vanderbilt in 1987, and their first game in Tennessee since 2018. Illinois is heading back to the city after a hard-fought win over Tennessee a season ago.
The matchup also brings a familiar series back to the floor. This will be the ninth all-time meeting between North Carolina and Illinois, and the first since 2010.
The teams are even at four wins apiece. Their first meeting came in 1951, and they also played a home-and-home in 1986 and 1987.
Between 2002 and 2010, they met five times in an eight-year stretch, a run that included the 2005 national championship game won by the Tar Heels.
