In Atlanta, the University of North Carolina's diving and swimming teams made quite a splash at the ACC Championships. Sofia Knight continued her impressive run, securing her third career top-three finish by taking the runner-up spot on the platform. Her performances across the 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform events contributed a hefty 79 points to UNC's team score.
Knight's consistency was a highlight, with a third-place finish on the 1-meter and sixth on the 3-meter, culminating in her strong second-place showing on the platform.
Meanwhile, Ciro Mejia, who recently set a school record, made a strong debut at the ACC Championship. He narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth on the platform with a score of 364.40.
The swimming events kicked off with the women's 200 medley relay team of Sophia Frei, Samantha Armand, Kamryn Meskill, and Eden Goettsch. They posted a time of 1:35.99, securing a seventh-place finish and an automatic NCAA qualifier.
On the men's side, the 800 free relay team consisting of Louis Dramm, David Quaresma, Sebastian Lunak, and Julian Swiderski placed 11th. However, their time of 6:15.81 was good enough for a provisional NCAA qualifier.
As the competition continues, swimmers are gearing up for more action with preliminaries starting at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
