Philip Rivers' Son Gunner Joins NC State Football, Following Dad's Legacy

Gunner Rivers, following in his father's celebrated footsteps, commits to NC State as one of the top quarterback prospects for the 2027 class.

Gunner Rivers is set to carve out his own legacy at N.C. State, following the impressive footsteps of his father, former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers.

The young quarterback from St. Michael Catholic School in Fairhope, Alabama, has committed to the Wolfpack, choosing them over powerhouse programs like Alabama and Auburn.

Standing tall at 6-foot-3 and weighing 205 pounds, Rivers is a four-star recruit, making waves with his remarkable junior year stats: 3,176 passing yards, 46 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Ranked as the sixth-best quarterback in the nation and the top prospect in Alabama for the class of 2027, Rivers is certainly one to watch.

Over his high school career, Rivers has amassed an impressive 10,200 passing yards and 111 touchdowns, boasting a completion rate of 64.9%. It seems the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as his father, Philip, left an indelible mark at N.C.

State. Philip’s name adorns the Wolfpack’s Ring of Honor at Carter-Finley Stadium, with his No. 17 jersey retired.

He was the ACC Player of the Year in 2003 before becoming a four-time Pro Bowl selection in the NFL.

Gunner Rivers is not just stepping into his father’s shadow; he's poised to cast his own light. The Wolfpack faithful have every reason to be excited about what the future holds with this young quarterback at the helm.
