The Tar Heels just added some serious size to their offensive line - and it's turning heads across the college football world.
North Carolina has landed a commitment from Dujuan Davis, a towering three-star interior offensive lineman out of Clearwater, Florida. Listed at 6-foot-9 and tipping the scales somewhere between 380 and 400 pounds, Davis is one of the most physically imposing prospects in the 2026 class. His commitment comes just days after receiving an offer from UNC, making this a quick - and significant - recruiting win for the Tar Heels.
Davis announced his decision on social media, writing, “Through the Grace of God, I’m blessed and excited to announce that I’ve been offered, committed, and will officially sign on Wednesday with UNC Football. Thank you to [Clearwater Central Catholic], my teammates, and everyone who has supported me on this path. I appreciate all of you!”
Now, let’s talk fit. Despite his massive frame - the kind you usually see anchoring the outside at tackle - Davis is currently projected as an interior lineman.
That’s a bit unusual for a player of his size, but it also hints at the kind of raw power and potential he brings to the middle of the line. He’s ranked No. 193 among interior offensive linemen in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, and sits at No. 250 overall in the state of Florida.
Those numbers might not jump off the page, but the upside here is hard to ignore.
Davis had offers from seven programs, including Ole Miss and Rutgers, but ultimately chose to take his talents to Chapel Hill. His decision adds more momentum to a North Carolina recruiting class that’s already ranked inside the top 20 nationally - a welcome boost for a program looking to rebound after a tough season.
The 2025 campaign was a rough one for UNC, finishing 4-8 in Bill Belichick’s first year at the helm. The Tar Heels endured several lopsided losses and missed out on bowl eligibility for the first time since 2018. It was a rocky start for the legendary coach, who took over the program in December 2024 and had limited time to assemble his staff and roster before the season began.
But as the dust settles from that transition, Belichick and his staff are clearly starting to find their footing on the recruiting trail. Landing a player like Davis - a late riser with rare size and intriguing potential - is the kind of move that can start to reshape a roster from the inside out. And in Belichick’s system, where line play is always a priority, a player like Davis could be a foundational piece.
It’s still early in the 2026 cycle, but this commitment is another sign that North Carolina is gaining traction under its new regime. If Belichick can continue stacking wins on the recruiting front, the Tar Heels might not be far off from turning things around on the field, too.
