Three Tar Heels Earn All-Region Honors After Standout Seasons

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - It’s been a strong campaign for North Carolina women’s soccer, and the postseason recognition is starting to roll in. On Tuesday morning, United Soccer Coaches announced its 2025 Women’s Soccer All-Region selections, and three Tar Heels made the cut: Olivia Thomas, Linda Ullmark, and Kate Faasse. All three played pivotal roles in UNC’s season and now find themselves among the best in the Atlantic Region.

Thomas Leads the Way with a Breakout Year

Junior forward Olivia Thomas earned a spot on the All-Atlantic Second Team, and frankly, it’s no surprise. Thomas was the engine of the Tar Heels’ attack this year, finishing with a team-best 13 goals, including four game-winners. She racked up 33 points on the season and consistently came through in the biggest moments.

Her impact didn’t go unnoticed during the year. Thomas was named First Team All-ACC and cracked the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason Top 100 list at No. 5 - a clear indicator of how highly she’s regarded on the national stage. She also earned ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors on October 7 and landed on the prestigious 2025 Midseason Hermann Trophy Watchlist, which highlights the top players in college soccer.

Ullmark’s All-Around Game Earns Recognition

Sophomore midfielder Linda Ullmark also secured a Second Team All-Atlantic nod after showcasing her versatility and vision all season long. Ullmark tallied seven goals and led the team with eight assists, proving to be a dynamic playmaker in the middle of the pitch.

She was named Third Team All-ACC and slotted in at No. 33 on the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason Top 100 list. Her performance on September 9 earned her a spot on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week, and she also received CSC Academic All-District honors - a testament to her work both on the field and in the classroom.

Faasse Delivers Goals and Grit

Rounding out UNC’s trio of honorees is Kate Faasse, who was named to the All-Atlantic Fourth Team. The junior forward put together a strong season with 11 goals, six assists, and 28 total points. Whether it was finishing chances or creating them, Faasse consistently found ways to impact games.

Her efforts earned her Third Team All-ACC honors and a spot at No. 45 on the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason Top 100. Like Thomas, Faasse was also named to the 2025 Midseason Hermann Trophy Watchlist, and she joined Ullmark on the CSC Academic All-District team.

A Promising Sign for the Program

With three players earning All-Region honors - and all three returning next season - the future is bright in Chapel Hill. These honors aren’t just a reflection of individual excellence; they speak to the strength and depth of the Tar Heels’ program. As UNC continues to reload and refine, this trio will be at the heart of whatever comes next.
