In the heart of Atlanta, the University of North Carolina's swim team made waves at the ACC Championships, showcasing a blend of seasoned talent and rising stars. On day five, Louis Dramm delivered a standout performance, securing fifth in the 400 IM with a time of 3:41.42. This finish not only added 25 points to UNC's tally but also met the NCAA Standard, following his impressive podium finish in the 200 IM the previous day.
The Tar Heels' men’s team currently holds eighth place with 299.5 points, while the women’s team is in seventh with 261.5 points. Among the highlights, David Quaresma shone bright with a personal best of 1:33.82 in the 200 free, maintaining his spot as the third-fastest in UNC history for the event.
Ben Delmar and Josh Parent also made significant strides in the 400 IM. Delmar clinched 11th with a 3:43.69, while Parent’s 18th-place finish at 3:42.76 elevated him to sixth all-time at UNC. On the women's side, Mary Macaulay led the charge in the 400 IM, finishing 16th and achieving an NCAA Standard, alongside teammates Aislin Farris and Ava Muzzy.
As the competition heats up, UNC swimmers are gearing up for another day of intense races, with prelims starting at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
