Duke Loss Now Overshadowed By Kimari Robinson Sideline Backlash

Duke's football program faces scrutiny as cornerback Kimari Robinson's behavior towards medical staff ignites controversy and calls for disciplinary action.

Duke cornerback Kimari Robinson drew heavy criticism after an awkward exchange with a female medical staffer during the Blue Devils’ game against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The moment came in the middle of the third quarter after Duke CB Landan Callahan was injured and lying on his back while trainers and medical staff tended to him. Robinson moved in to check on his teammate, but when another trainer stepped forward to help, she pushed him aside so she could get to Callahan. Robinson responded by swatting her arm away.

The trainer appeared startled at first, then continued helping Callahan.

Even though the incident was brief, plenty of fans watching at home reacted strongly to Robinson making contact with a trainer. Social media criticism came quickly, with some calling for serious discipline.

“Honestly unless #5 is getting a medical degree at Duke then he doesn’t need to be there…that trainer should file a complaint to the school. If that player is on a scholarship, then take it away. He looked at her then swiped her arm… (expletive) move,” one user wrote on X.

“Anyone who defending the Duke player Kimari Robinson for putting his hands on a female athletic trainer is a coward,” another declared.

“Horrible reaction from the Duke player. Shes quite literally attempting to do her job to keep his teammate safe. He should be running lines for a week,” a third wrote.

“This is an absolute horrible look by Kimari Robinson. I understand that he is looking out for his teammate but this woman is simply doing her job. Not good.”

“Kimari Robinson needs to be expelled from the team starting tomorrow, no need for that unnecessary nonsense in college football.”

The source of the reaction is clear: while emotions can run hot when a teammate is hurt, many felt Robinson crossed a line in that moment. The question now is whether Duke and Manny Diaz will discipline him for it.

It is the kind of broadcast setup that can leave casual viewers searching a little harder than usual, but there will still be a few ways to keep up as UNC continues its preseason tune-up. UNC Reclaimed The Victory Bell After A Finish Fans Wont Forget

North Carolinas trip to Wallace Wade Stadium delivered the kind of finish both sides of the rivalry live for, with the Tar Heels edging Duke 24-20 in a game that swung from control to survival. UNC grabbed an early lead and looked set to manage the afternoon from there, only to find itself in a tighter fight late as the Blue Devils pushed back and turned the closing stretch into a test of nerve.

Kenton Dopson III provided the final answer with a late interception that shut the door and sent the Victory Bell back to Chapel Hill, a result that mattered well beyond one Saturday in October.
