Midweek Highlights

The Tar Heels are coming off a pair of dominant midweek victories. They dismantled NC A&T with a 9-1 win and followed up by run-ruling VCU, 13-3.

  • Cam Padgett and Caden Glauber were pivotal against the Aggies. Padgett set the tone with three strikeouts over three scoreless innings.

Glauber shone in relief, allowing just one baserunner over five innings while fanning five.

  • The offense surged late, with Owen Hull and Erik Paulsen each driving in two runs.
  • Paulsen carried his hot streak into Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with two homers, marking his second career multi-homer game.
  • UNC’s bats were on fire, tallying a season-high 13 hits, including seven for extra bases, while striking out just twice.
  • The team has already notched four run-rule wins this season, putting them on pace to surpass last year’s record of eight.

Spotlight on DeCaro

Jason DeCaro, Carolina's junior ace, continues to meet high expectations. Since his debut as a 17-year-old, he’s been a force on the mound.

  • Freshman Year: Earned Freshman All-American honors with a 3.81 ERA, contributing to the team’s journey to Omaha. He started in the College World Series opener, striking out six against Virginia.
  • Sophomore Year: Maintained dominance, earning second-team All-ACC honors. He was crucial in key victories, including a standout performance against Florida State.
  • 2026 Season: DeCaro has been electric, starting back-to-back Opening Day games. He’s delivered a complete game shutout against ECU, marking the first such feat since 2013.

Under Forbes, the Heels boast a stellar 109-35-1 (.755) record against non-ACC foes. This season, they’re off to a strong 8-1-1 start in out-of-conference play, building on last year’s impressive 25-4 record. The Diamond Heels are clearly a team to watch as they continue their campaign.
