Caleb Wilson made his return to Chapel Hill count.
The former North Carolina standout was back on campus for alumni weekend, and his visit quickly became one of the biggest moments of the trip. Wilson was part of the scene during UNC’s blowout win over East Tennessee State, where he helped energize the crowd, but the night also brought a more viral highlight: a trip to the DKE house that ended with him throwing down a dunk over frat bros.
Video of Wilson at the fraternity house just off UNC’s campus on Saturday night spread fast online, showing the former Heel putting on a show for the students around him. In one clip, a guy stepped in to defend Wilson, only to see him bounce the ball off the backboard and finish with a forceful jam. The reaction around him said plenty.

Wilson’s grin at the end of the video told its own story. It also fit the larger picture of his connection to Chapel Hill, which clearly hasn’t faded since he left. This was his first time back in town since he was taken No. 4 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft.
He was in town helping Michael Malone make alumni weekend a success, with 5-star talents CJ Rosser and Jordan Page also present, but Wilson didn’t lose sight of the fans who made his freshman season such a memorable one. He has repeatedly shown a willingness to give back to the people who backed him during his run at UNC.
Even before he moved on from campus, Wilson made sure to leave one more lasting impression. He went to the student gym and lit things up for his friends one last time. Now he’s back on Greek Row, waking up neighbors with monster dunks.
That kind of presence is not what you always get from a one-and-done player. Usually, the story ends when they leave for the NBA and disappear from the college scene.
With Wilson, that doesn’t seem to be the case. He was disappointed when Hubert Davis was fired, but that didn’t change how much Carolina means to him.
The DKE house moment made that plain. And when the NBA season arrives, people around campus are likely to be pulling for him again, just as they did during Summer League, when the former UNC forward looked sensational in Las Vegas.
Wilson’s future is still wide open, and plenty of people will be watching him closely with the Bulls. At the same time, Chapel Hill appears to be a place he can always come back to, whether it’s to catch a game or just spend time on familiar ground.
He may not have spent a long time away from UNC, but the impression he’s left - and continues to leave - is impossible to miss.
